@xterm: actually I like IE9, I don't think it's a bad browser from a technological point of view. In fact, I think at this point it's probably leaps ahead of the competition.
This is something that i fail to understand, not just in this topic but in the OpenSource herd in general. Is it just the fact that you CAN study it, modify it and redistribute it that is appealing? Or is it because you HAVE done so.
It's the fact that I can study, modify, and redistribute it. I may not be technically skilled enough to do any of those things, but at least FF gives me the freedom to do it. So if I want to try and fail, I have the chance. IE doesn't even let me try, so it kind of ruins it for me.
And you make a good point about Mac OS X, it's also closed source (except the kernel I guess), so I shouldn't have singled Windows out like that. :)
So yeah, in summary: IE is great, just not free, which is my only bias against it.
Understandable saeidw. Though might i comment on one thing.
"IE is free, just not as free as you would want it to be"
Edit: The previous line isn't a trolling attempt!

I just want to point out that IE6 is dead, or so I thought. You're not supposed to design for IE6 anymore. I say this because some people mentioned IE6 in this thread.
Just out of curiosity, i decided to use IE9 to check how great it is.
Here's the result - Showing my FB homepage:
