If controversy is banned from a forum, what is there to discuss?

It saddens me to see my fellow geeks broken at heart and in spirit. For this I explain to you a vision for how things ought to be.
But first to my fellow geek member, this:
We are a special community, putting reason, logic and rationality ahead of everything else. We are also cursed with enthusiasm, dreams and irrationality. Our ideas and aspirations lead us to dark and previously rarely touched patches of the human experience. The cutting edge defines us.

Our experiences are different, but it's awesome when it overlaps. It's much more useful for a team to be diverse. People will always happen to work on different things.

Nevertheless, we will always be able to find flaws in each others creations, and find in that motivation to better that which is created. It is mostly in that that we are able to best ourselves, for otherwise we can always set the bar only conveniently higher and achieve incrementally little things. As irritating as it can get, we should be able to take in criticism and understand what others may be outlooking for. Understanding that is inherent in our yearning to best ourselves in the first place.

It is expected that members of such a community with all kinds of personalities but with two things in common, motivation and drive, to find themselves separated by canyons. It is our community duty to bring them together, to develop their personal maturity, to respect them and be an example of that respect, and most important of all, to raise the level of their communication, that it far overfills the initial mental gaps. It is wrong by all measures to deepen the valleys and separate people even further, especially by authoritative figures. Recently this has been manifesting as frustration of the mods and admins from discussions, and aborting them before they simmer into usefulness which they show signs of, even if that is not evident through whatever lenses those are wearing. Even when things are to be judged by the rules; rules which are touted by all the "mod and admin" followers; they fall short of being enough reason to interrupt discussion. It is even more greatly frustrating and silly that when the community is trying to communicate feedback through a constant channel to admins about their actions, that that particular discussion should be interrupted with closure.

It is maddening beyond description that members of such a community should find such authority right in such separation and blocking oriented behavior. A community should be striving to develop, to explore, and to test, even if it means there is some significant screaming in the process. No, it is strange if there is no screaming to begin with. No rule should be taken at face value, and nothing should be taken for granted. It is the responsibility of the community to teach the authority how to behave and where to exercise its privileges rather than having an "authority riding an ass of a community". Our current situation is at most laughable and mostly cry worthy.

The vision for such a high energy and possibly eventful community is one that tolerates large amounts of tension, self audits, and doesn't ask much of its members upon entry, but develops them through into whatever values that are important of the community itself.

So in short, everybody should be more tolerant. We don't need to be running around bitching about people criticizing our work.
We should be even more tolerant of new members even if they show personal immaturity, because that's exactly what a forum should improve in people.
Controversial topics, rules, regulations, admins should not be taken seriously to death. No body is going to die using a forum, so deal with it on that basis.
