hello guys, there's something i dont get:

in which world the silly boring animation Mary and Max http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0978762/ got 8.2/10 ranking and the great comedy "The Dictator" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1645170/ got only 6.2/10 ranking. IMDb should reconsider their ranking algorithm, democracy in ranking only make it worse.

cheesy jokes and idiotic behaviors don't make movies something to be remembered
same as norbit, my friend gave it a 9/10 while I gave it a 5/10
imdb's average is a 3.6/10, I hope you get my point, it's not about the shallow laugh it's about the lasting content

And personally giving the dictator a 6.8 is quite too much. I would have given it a 4 at best.

anyhow their ranking is based on the individual ranking of thousands of viewers. as you see 41,700 ranked the dictator, I'm pretty sure their average can't be off by much.

man please it's a comedy cheesy jokes and idiotic behaviors are essentials, i dont say idiotic behaviors as "Tom and Jerry" but something hilarious and a true story. the thing that i remember of "Mary and Max" is the sickness and pointless suffering of stupidity ,that feeling hangs me each time i remember this movie. and still Mary and Max have 8.2/10 ranking

OMG! just 4? why dont you like the jokes? "aah! America the birthplace of AIDS". IMDb should consider the source country in their ranking algorithm, its not fair that voters from china or India to settle the final score

I guess IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, and Metacritic should all tailor their ranking systems to specifically suit kim's poor taste in films...

look Admiral General Aladdin (from The Dictator 2012) said: "Democracy is the worst! Endless talking and listening to every stupid opinion! And everybody's vote counts, no matter how crippled or black or female they are..." im quoting just for fun i dont agree with the racism included. but dont you see here that a least The Dictator have to get more score than Mary and Max got?

Rating systems are never the right way to measure something as they are very, very subjective.

Either way, like them or not, it's a couple hours of your life you're never getting back after watching a bad movie.

Move on, live with it and don't make such a huge deal out of this. That's the only thing I can recommend you.

after personal experience, you should go with www.rottentomatoes.com
they have way more logical ratings and short comments

No. As for the quote, a stupid opinion would be saying that democracy shouldn't be applied, when professional film critics are members of the public like you and me. Not only that, these same critics are technically rating The Dictator lower than the average movie goer. (58% vs 68%)

Not that it matters anyway.

IMDB rankings do tend to be weird sometimes, so always try to get/read reviews from more than one source.
(it still won't be the ranking you'll be expecting!)

Anyways since we seem to have a similar taste in comedy movies i can recommend the following:
- Idiocracy
- Pineapple express

Thank you for supporting my point:D for a while i thought that i'm the only fan of The Dictator:P. I took you recommendation, im now downloading your movies in BluRay quality .seems that ill have indoor fun for two nights:D

People take IMDB ratings way too seriously, if I watched movies based on IMDB ratings, I would have missed some great great movies.

The Dictator is cheesy at best

Mr.Deeds is an average to good comedy

Jack and Jill is bullshit (other than the Pacino part)
