Check out Horrible Bosses, 21 Jump Street ,Hall Pass if your into comedy movies.
Guys i watched the dictator, it is quiet funny, but it tends to be a porn movie. I wonder how they show it in lebanese cinemas.
@kim watch the little fockers 2010, it is good, and night at the museum 2 if you haven't watched them.
also if you havent watched little fockers, try the ones that came before, meet the parents and then meet the fockers. great movies

@babum

amazing! theses movies seems to be great, i hope that i find a movie greater than the dictator

by the way guys im wondering about who gave Caramel (sukar banat) movie a 7/10 rating on IMDb. this is totally unfair don't you agree with me?
Alright here's my take on the subject.

When you wish to see the rating of a commercial movie (The dictator-Avatar-Ted, Batman, etc...), you will likely see an accurate rating representing the impressions of the overall audience.

Whereas in niche movies (Mary and Max-The illusionist-MaryGold Hotel-Hotel Rwanda-Schindler's list), you are more likely to see a very high rating...The cause for that is because these movies are not for the general public but for a specific audience that tends to like these types of movies, so the voting public is already biased to its niche section, even though the movie might be boring.

In other words, you can always rely on IMDB, Metacritic, and Rottentomatoes to see the accurate ratings of a commercial movie...But when it comes to a niche and specialized movie, the ratings will always be high, which might be misleading, so you must look further into the details of the movie.
@cullinan86

man you solved the mystery of rating systems thank you! :)
cullinan86 wroteWhereas in niche movies (Mary and Max-The illusionist-MaryGold Hotel-Hotel Rwanda-Schindler's list)
These movies are not even remotely niche. You don't know what you're talking about.

EDIT: Confused The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel with Marigold.
I was preparing a response but eWizzard asnwered faster.

Here's a small comparative table with numbers taken from imdb directly:
| Title | IMDB vote # | IMDB rating | Budget (USD) | Gross (USD) |
|-----------------------+-------------+-------------+--------------+---------------|
| The Illusionist | 157,294 | 7.6 | 16,000,000 | 84,276,175 |
| Mary and Max | 45,002 | 8.2 | 8,706,384 | ?? |
| Marygold hotel | 15,507 | 7.3 | 10,000,000 | 44,471,606 |
| Hotel Rwanda | 140,707 | 8.2 | 17,500,000 | 33,882,243 |
| Schindler's list | 418,582 | 8.9 | 25,000,000 | 321,306,305 |
|-----------------------+-------------+-------------+--------------+---------------|
| The dictator | 45,847 | 6.7 | 65,000,000 | - |
| Avatar | 470,400 | 8.0 | 237,000,000 | 2,782,275,172 |
| Ted | 44,314 | 7.7 | 50,000,000 | - |
| The Dark Knight Rises | 257,843 | 8.9 | 250,000,000 | - |

Not only do the "niche" movies attract more votes in imdb, but they have million dollar budgets, the biggest part of which is to attract mainstream cast and crew.

Their success is enormous (you can see the commercial gross) and they entered the history of cinema forever.
Alright, alright...Here's a slight correction:

When I wrote "The illusionist", I meant the animated feature... Not the Edward Norton movie...I should have mentioned that.
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_illusionist-2009/

And "eWizzard", thank you for correcting the name of the movie "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel"...Although I already knew I got the name wrong since I was in a hurry so I couldn't double check my quote. And don't judge me as someone who doesn't know what he's talking about, you don't even know me.

And you dear "Rahmu", I think you should edit your post to include the other "illusionist" I meant.

It is normal to have differing views about what makes a movie commercial or not, since it's prone to much subjectivity.
And every once in a while, niche movies will find unexpected success, regardless of the budget. Just because a movie is considered niche doesn't mean it should fail at the Box Office.

On another note, I would also like to confess that "Schindler's list" is debatable. I know it enjoyed huge success, but I still believe that this movie wasn't made for the sake of "making money" like other commercial movies, that's why I consider it "niche"...Same goes to "Hotel Rwanda".

Glad to see that there are many true movie fans in this community, all of you.
cullinan86 wroteIt is normal to have differing views about what makes a movie commercial or not, since it's prone to much subjectivity.
"Commercial movie" is a tautology, if anything. Virtually all movies, and at least all the ones that you see in the theater, are commercial. The exceptions are relatively very few, and they definitely don't include any of the ones you've listed. It's irrelevant anyway, because "commercial" and "niche" are not mutually exclusive, and you seem to think that they are.
cullinan86 wroteAnd every once in a while, niche movies will find unexpected success, regardless of the budget. Just because a movie is considered niche doesn't mean it should fail at the Box Office.
This is true, but as you said, it's the exception rather than the rule. Best example.

Again, whether a film is made for the sake of making money or not doesn't determine if it's niche or mainstream.
cullinan86 wroteThe cause for that is because these movies are not for the general public but for a specific audience that tends to like these types of movies
This is, in theory, what a niche film is supposed to be.
So now I have to ask: what audience do you think the writers, directors and producers were targeting with films like Hotel Rwanda and Schindler's List?
allow me to answer for your last question, but I'm pretty sure that Hotel Rwanda and Schindler's list were meant to all audiences (At least mature enough ones).
Precisely, and that's why they aren't niche in any way, shape, or form.
