I used to see in general my network type: EDGE; now it's GPRS
Are you sure they are improving????
just wondering, does the 3g connection affect the price and the quota of other connections like wap and gprs?
will gprs become available for prepaid lines? are the quotas going to expand a bit ? please answer if you have any idea!

They are going through price and quota changes right now--normally, there wouldn't be a correlation between 3g and price and quota of other services, but this time expect some. They may not offer gprs or wap after the rollout is complete and make you migrate to 3g services, but you are probably going to get a better deal than you are now with a higher quota and lower prices.

My sister's phone is MTC and it finds a 3G Alfa connection.
I'm on Alfa and my phone finds MTC 3G connections.

Interesting.. I'm from Saida, I have Alfa and I just did a manual search on my phone.. and I found an MTC 3G network o_O but alfa still 2G :/

edit: but on my cousin's iPhone 4..she has MTC but no 3G symbol activated :/

Edit2: here's a pic(sorry for the delay.. had to ask for the USB cable before finding out that iPhone can't send pics to other devices by Blue-Tooth :/ )
it all depends on the frequencies your phone can receive, most likely alfa transmits in a certain frequency that your sister can detect but mtc transmits on a different one undetectable by her phone.
Did a manual search on my BB torch... the only 3G signal i got was from Alfa, even though im with MTC
does anybody know what the Lebanese 3G bands will be? Europe and North Africa all seems to have 2100 and since siemens is setting Lebanon up I would assume it will be the same.

If I can get definitive info I can buy a phone here in canada prior to arrival.

muchos Shokruns to all
guys i can pick up 3.5G on my mobile. I'm MTC. I set my phone to UMTS-only mode. I even tried to check my credit balance with *220# and it worked.
i did a search but i can't find that small sign to know if the network is 3G or not, but the weird thing is that i have found 3 networks :O : alfa, RL MTC Lebanon and 41505.
thanks green!

can you, anyone confirm that umts 2100 will be the standard freq for the upcoming 3g services?
Ericsson is setting up Alfa's network and I confirm it is the 2100Mhz band.

Band I 2100 UMTS (2100/1900)

OR

Band IV 2100 UMTS (2100/1700)

???
4G LTE equipment is expansive now considering its still new technology. 3G technology that will be used in lebanon is HSPA+ promoted as 4G in US and Canada. also Alfa will use category 14 HSDPA capable of 21.1 mbs theoretical download speed and MTC will use category 20 HSDPA which will provide 42.2 mbs theoretical download speed. LTE which is even not real 4G is capable of 50 mbs theoretical speed, however LTE is capable of reaching close to the advertised speed unlike HSPA
guys take a look at this
