I think there's far more important matters they have to work out than a small improvement in DSL.
Well the way I see it, decreasing the E1 price needs a 15 mins discussion and a couple of signatures. I went through the things that they have discussed and it was not a hectic schedule, and the fact that the prime minister is traveling with his family next week proves it. My point is, why did the minister say that it WILL be discussed in the first OR second meeting and then totally ignores it? Some people say that such a discussion will be postponed till the release time of 3G, in order not to influence all the hype over it. It might not be true though.

I think it needs more than just 15 minutes. The minister isn't the one who chooses what is discussed and what isn't. He can propose the new reforms, but he can't decide when it will be discussed, the prime minister does.
And I'm sure there's no conspiracy to "keep the hype over 3G", that's just silly. We should hopefully see the improvements early next month. Though they probably won't be much since the fiber optic lines still need a year to be finished.

Are we sure that he did propose and the prime minister chose not to discuss? That we don't know. How do you know that we will see improvements next month anyway? So far all what we're getting are words. Anyway we'll see how things will go...
Listen the timing of the packages was probably set for the end of September (rumors anyway)--why should it be first or second on the list if it isn't going to be implemented for a couple of months? The ISP's were told and they are probably trying to get the sh!t together for the unveiling. At least we are seeing some light nearing the end of the tunnel.

What a long strange slow tunnel it's been.

My friend just told me that there is a 3G cell near the parliament in downtown Beirut! And she saw the "3G" sign appear on her mobile (Nexus S) :O
The 3G symbol appeared on my mobile last week. I'm with Alfa.

me too, it happened last sunday night i was in downtown ...
Guys on a side note, you should all turn 3G off to save battery life !
thats if you are connected to 3G network, but since we dont have 3G yet it doesnt matter we are connected to 2G

not true, if you enable 3g connection, even if you are not connected, you drain your battery, same as bluetooth and wifi, both of them drain the battery when enaabled, not as much as 3g though
They're doing some testing atm...
So if you get a 3G signal..Free internet I guess :P

your wifi, bluetooth, GPS drain battery because they do a scan to see if there is a device to connect to, 3G how ever doesnt scan your phone will know there is 3G w when its connected to the tower which it receive info about the network rather then the phone doing look out for 3G networks.

when you actually use it.
if you are not connected to 3G and 3G is turned on it will not drain your phone's battery , it uses the normal cellular network (2G here) until it gets connected to a tower signaling 3G .... then it drains the F*** out of your battery.

I got the signal for like 1 minute.
Alfa sources: 3G launches in September, will be available in Grand Beirut in October and all over Lebanon in early 2012.

Yes.
you can do anything with the 3G network, the real problem is the price and a bit of lag also. stick to dsl it is better for gaming.
