I have spoken to Alfa, the problem is that the UK server that Apple uses to send the silent FaceTime activation sms comes from a UK carrier that Alfa is not in roaming agreement with (unlike MTC)
Even with jailbreak it still won't work
They said that if the number of people calling Alfa requesting a FaceTime solution increases, the more likely it is that Alfa will sign an agreement with the UK carrier

I bought an iphone 4 and I have an mtctouch line but facetime is not working. What Can I do?
I called 111 to get MMS settings but they said that they cannot send MMS settings to an iphone. Please help me.

no need to have mms settings for mtc touch, if sms is working then you r set to go
Just turn facetime on in settings and wait for activation, if it dosent activate, reset your network settings and restart your phone then switch it back on... that should do it

You have to be connected to wifi and the other party you're calling (having FaceTime ON as well) is connected to wifi also ...

Nothing new from Alfa yet.
A new app called Tango is a good FaceTime alternative for Alfa users. Much better than fring, uses the whole screen and has a flawless connection

I called up Alfa and spent about 15 minutes convincing the nice lady to transfer me to her manager. She claimed he "wasn't there" and that there was nothing they could do because FaceTime is not their responsibility.
I made sure to mention the problem was from an SMS that had to be sent and received from UK/Vodafone (that's where the activation server is). She then told me they need to have an agreement with them in order for them to receive their SMSes (does that even make sense?).
Any idea how I can reach the complaints departement? If they care enough to have one?

Yes Samer it does make sense, when on Alfa, you can't receive international messages or special messages that activate the feature (I'm assuming). Apple should implement it as a separate app like on the 4th generation of the iPod Touch.

Yehhhhh... The news is alfa sucks and always has been. I am shifting to MTC because both my brothers have MTC and have their facetime activated on iPhone 4 (iOS 4.1) factory unlocked.
We all have to pressure alfa, but should we do it. We need to know someone in there to convince them on enabling it.

Make sure to specify these two points:
• It takes little effort from alfa, and will make their customers happy.
• MTC is doing it, which should be enough for them to do it.
