Hi all.
I just want to summarize all the FaceTime issue.
Regarding this application, it requires a wifi connection and a non-cracked handset. It is not related to MMS settings at all.
Even when activating FaceTime on both Alfa or MTC line, you cannot use it without wifi and the second person should have wifi ON and FaceTime activated.
The wifi might block the activation of FaceTime and it can be the main reason of a non active FaceTime.
NB: Guys!!! FaceTime = NO MORE LYING about where you are! IT IS REALLY OVERRATED !!

And yes, some wifi networks block it, but not your usual home network
The whole issue here is to have Alfa provide what MTC does, which is to my knowledge a very simple solution to allow for the activation of the service by Apple

I've been trying to get FaceTime to work on my IP4 since early July. Alfa has been deducting 18 cents from my account every single time I attempt to and in case I leave it on, hoping that it would work, it would deduct further 18 cents everytime I actually attempt to do something with the phone.
I contacted them about it many times and they said there's nothing they can do. I don't really care about the lost credit as long as I get some tangible results. And so far there's nothing.
I've been a long time reader and, well, I just registered after reading this. I contacted alfa soon after about facetime and microsims.
For the purpose of this discussion, they said: nothing's wrong on their part for facetime and that something's wrong with my device.
I do have another IP4 (my little brother's) but he's on alfa also so there's no way to tell who's to blame.
Hoping for some improvement soon.

I mean, it's kind of pointless to tell her off and she can't do anything about it.

After verification my Alfa detailed bill, I find out that they are not deducting any cent related to FaceTime (it should be SMS International). Because when activating FaceTime a message is sent to UK server. Therefore, elie there is something wrong!

^ I am not postpaid and from what I've read, your phone needs to send a text message. I don't know, to be honest. And they are as clueless.

Elie, it might be sending an SMS message, I'm sure it did in 4.0.x but not sure in 4.1, because the iPod Touch 4 doesn't send an SMS, it doesn't need validation.

^ the iTouch is verified via email. The iPhone is a different story. Typical Apple stuff.
I contacted alfa today. I explained the whole: the phone sends an sms to a server in UK and Apple need to reply and they use one of the carriers there. And the guy on the phone replied that Alfa has signed agreements with all carriers in the UK: Orange, 3, O2, Vodafone..

Hey guys, I'm currently on MTC (postpaid) but my iPhone 4 is still stuck on "waiting for activation". Can anybody help me out? I'm pretty sure that I dont need any extra settings from MTC. One more question... How are ur numbers showing on the Settings>Phone page? is it 03 xxx xxx or +961 3 xxx xxx ? Coz I read somewhere that this might affect receiving the SMS from UK. Min is +961 xxx xxx :S

^ Try to reset your network settings and try again. Also, you can change the way your phone number shows in settings --> Phone. Mine appears as 03..
However, I'm not sure if the way your number appears is related.

My alfa line is postpaid and I cannot change it coz it is printed on my business cards. However I got a pre paid mtf line coz I need FaceTime from time to time. Lol
So I'll let you know what happens. And btw where are we on progress with alfa?
They are replying with the same email about facetime and I think they're reaching nowhere...

Actually, that just makes the toggle visible. It doesn't activate it for you.
