  • new_user Is someone familiar with the new 4G pricing plan of alfa in terms of what happens when you exceed the data limit for prepaid line?

My understanding is that this is only relevant to people who subscribed to a plan that no longer exists. For example the 20 GB plan was replaced with 25 GB. They're explaining how the transition will happen. I might be wrong though.

Call 111. Alfa operators tend be patient and helpful in explaining that stuff. If you land on someone useless, end the conversation and dial again. You could also use their live chat.

new_user Extra MB for all data bundles: $0.01

This is their standard fee when you go above your quota.

Hey @nuclearcat. No, LebGeeks did not leak your email.

P.S. Why my email published on lebgeeks profile? I didnt set to make it public and there is no option to hide it completely.

I wrote about this when I announced the new version of the forum:

By default, your email will be visible to other users. If you don't want that you can edit the "Public Email" field in your profile. Note that it will only be visible to users who are logged-in.
We no longer support private messages. If you want to be contacted, please keep your email in your profile.

The reason this is opt-out and not opt-in is because private messaging is no longer supported. Your email is only visible to a user who is signed in, and it is possible for you to hide it or display a completely different email address than the one associated with your account.

If Paypal supports internal transfers, you can ask a friend that has an account to make a transfer to you. Probably not a good long term solution, but should be OK for one-off payments that have to be done via Paypal.

  • Make sure to avoid direct sunlight (UV rays degrade materials). If you're running an AC at home, you're dehumidying your environment so it should be OK. Five years? Who knows, it depends on how good the leatherette is.

A delegation from the American company Starlink is scheduled to visit Beirut on Thursday, where it will meet with Lebanon’s three top leaders—the president, the prime minister, and the speaker of parliament—as well as several ministers to discuss the potential activation of its satellite internet service in the country.

    • Non-state licensed satellite uplinks are illegal and you can end up having an unpleasent knock on your door. I personally would not do it. Do your parents have decent LTE coverage? If so, just pay for a data SIM.

    • @barhom shared this, he said it looks fine on his side:

    • Pugan This is the expected behavior. Posts can be edited until a reply is added to the thread.
I realize now that this might be suboptimal for threads like "sell your stuff" where editing old posts is important. I'll try and think of an alternative. Thanks for pointing it out!

    • ReadMe that's a good vintage logo from 2008,

It's been a while since our last major update, and we’ve just completed an important upgrade to the forum.

The platform we were using has been unmaintained for a couple of years, which meant no security updates, outdated PHP, and the lack of mobile support and other critical features. Given the circumstances, staying on the old software was no longer an option, so we’ve migrated to Flarum, which is the successor to FluxBB.

I hope this update resolves some of the issues you’ve had with the previous platform. While there are a few aspects of the new system that I’m not entirely satisfied with, this change was necessary for security and stability.

If you are having a hard time signing in, send me an email (admin@...com) and make sure to mention your username.

      Some things to note:

      • By default, your email will be visible to other users. If you don't want that you can edit the "Public Email" field in your profile. Note that it will only be visible to users who are logged-in.
      • We no longer support private messages. If you want to be contacted, please keep your email in your profile.

If you run into any problems, please report them in this topic. Your input is appreciated as we work through any remaining issues.

      • @AVOlio thanks for sharing, this is a very valuable tutorial!
      • WhatUsername961 wroteI tried it and it is throttled. The IP ranges of Cloudflare Warp+ are throttled by all ISPs in Lebanon but Cloudflare's CDN ips aren't.
Interesting. Thanks for reporting back! The cool thing is that Cloudflare actually peers with other ISPs at the Beirut IX, so they have a local presence: https://blog.cloudflare.com/marhaba-beirut-cloudflares-121st-location
      • Hi WhatUsername961, welcome to LebGeeks and thanks for sharing!

Have you also tested Cloudflare's Warp+ service? It's basically a WireGuard tunnel to whatever Cloudflare data center is closest to you. If that works, you would not have to maintain a VPS.
      • Hi everyone, another decade just rolled over for us!

LebGeeks V1 was deployed using dial-up Internet exactly 20 years ago, back when forums were still in vogue and social media was non-existant. It's crazy to think that we've survived for so long. Thank you for continuing to be a part of this community.
      • Hey SortOfGeek, welcome to LebGeeks!
How did you come across our community?
      • jaqen h'ghar wroteHi, I recently switched to Neo by Bank Audi the fees are 2$ per month and no withdrawal fees + you get 2 accounts USD and LBP and you can exchange money between them and deposit/withdraw cardless if you want.

It's a Digital Bank, I've only seen this concept in different countries but definitely check it out. no need to visit any branch for anything it's all on the app.
Thanks for sharing. It's nice to see a relatively "modern" banking service in Lebanon. What has been your experience with it so far? Any hidden fees or gotcha's? customer support?
      • I think word of mouth is your best bet. Ask for referrals from friends of friends. If you have friends that are business owners that have hired development companies, see if they can refer you to someone they've worked with.
if you want to use this community to post a job, feel free to do it here in another post and make sure to put a clear job description with a background of the company.
