From my experience I have found "pc tools - Spyware Doctor" to be the best.

Re: Microsoft Antispyware vs Lavasoft AdAware

I have both simultaneously installed on my PC, they're both good. Microsoft looks better and it detected spyware that lavasoft did not detect one. Microsoft also may be less prone to screw up your PC while removing the adware. But it asks a lot of questions.
You can also install both simultaneously.

But really the best is Spyware Doctor.

Re: Microsoft Antispyware vs Lavasoft AdAware

m$ antispyware has caused my IE to freeze, their latest version is beta, beta's and alpha's are buggy. I suggest spybot search and destroy its freeware and it hooks a dll to your IE to monitor and block malware.

After you read this, the credibility of any M$ antispyware solution is highly doubtful at best.
