Youtube launches HTML5 player

I just stumbled upon this. Apparently Youtube released an experimental HTML5 video player to replace the ages-old flash player. It's still in beta, but it looks promising since it won't be limited by flash's slowness, memory leaks, and bugs. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/html5

its been *there* for a while, check http://www.youtube.com/testtube for testing experimental features.

@tich, the thing has got some limitations, no fullscreen support....

@jad, as al_jamal said, firefox doesn't support h264 yet.

Supported Browsers:
    * Google Chrome
    * Apple Safari (version 4+)
    * Microsoft Internet Explorer with Chrome Frame installed (Get Chrome Frame)

Try the "feather" beta feature. I think it really makes youtube lighter and faster.

Video quality is poor, but I like the initiative. Flash is a proprietary format people shouldn't have to use to go on Youtube. I can only hope that in time it'll get better.
