Hi there,
I'm looking for a reliable web hosting service inside Lebanon. I found a few "lebaneese web hosting" with google: lazyclic, hostinglebanon, dotlb, etc.
However all of them have websites with ping >450ms away from my Wisebox. This makes me feel it goes through a satellite to reach them, so I suppose:
- the servers are outside Lebanon which is not what I'm looking for!
- wise have a weird network architecture...
I do have a dedicated server in France, but sometime the link between Lebanon and the rest of the world is so slow...
Any idea? Thanks,
-- Jeko
i think all the main ISPs have hosting plans...
IDM: http://www.idm.net.lb/products/web_services/hosting.asp
Terranet: http://corp.terra.net.lb/Business%20Sol … osting.asp
Cyberia: http://www.thisiscyberia.com/services/c … asp?menu=3

I was gonna say that (all the main ISPs, i read also on DigitalITS that they have and there is a company in tripoli that might have this stuff [checking for you ]
or you can try setting up stuff yourself or hire someone to do the setup if you can afford a good con
I found only Terranet is accessible at reasonable ping, which is not the case for IDM and Cyberia.
I now believe Lebanon's ISP networks are not all interconnected... I probably just have to call them and ask. I'll let you know.
BTW, does anyone which ISP is IDM or Cyberia could check their ping to www.wise.net.lb or terranet (212.98.154.177)?
Thanks for advices.

As far as I know, all ISPs except IDM are interconnected with eachothers.
IDM seems to block the direct peering between them and the other ISPs.
And as close as I know - they are not. Only several have direct links.
The main idea was to create a public point for interconnection (BIX - Beirut Internet Exchange), but as everything else - it failed.
Indeed, this is the way "people do it" all around.
And for God sake, since Lebanon has 19 CCIEs why they stop hiding in the mountains and monasteries and go tell the ISPs that the RIGHT way to interconnect with each other is via BGP and not some dumb static routing with private IPs.
