Into Gaming ? Stay away from WISE !

It's official!

WISE's gaming link has been deactivated. According to Padre's tests, their upload is now via Satellite and the download is on fiber.

There is no more separation between customers. Everyone is on their semi-fiber semi-satellite link with a latency of 400-700ms throughout the day and inability to browse the web from 11:00PM to 12:30AM (sometimes you cant even open MSN)

There is no ETA as of when the original backbone will be restored but it seems it has been deactivated for good.

Goodbye 120-150ms !

Going to Blink's 512K - hope it lasts a bit at least :)

Re: Into Gaming ? Stay away from WISE !

I don't know anyone inside WISE to check with, but from those who answer the phone (and specifically the few of them who are aware of the issue), it seems it will stay like this for the time being.

No reason has been given yet.. nothing too convincing at least.

Re: Into Gaming ? Stay away from WISE !

I was this close to dumping my Terranet ADSL and going with Wise.
Its a good thing I kept on postponing it.

If blink's latency get worse then it's the end for us gamers.
I can't freaking understand why they keep neglecting this issue although they know there is a respectable gaming community out there.
