Planning to move back to beirut need some info (and hi everyone!)

Hey everyone, great to see this community is still going :)

As the subject says I am moving back to beirut in a few months and am looking to get some info:
- Firstly internet, I understand there is fiber now in lebanon? I see on Ogero site that a lot of regions have coverage, does that mean for example that all of Achrafieh now has fiber? or its a building by building basis?
- Whats the good websites to find appartements for rent?
- I will need to buy a new high-end PC are there stores you can recommend that build for you and arent extremely overpriced? (Prefer to support local stores than big chains)
- Any recommendation for a local company that does long-term car leasing?
- Can someone explain to me the lollars situation, am I supposed to exchange all usd to lbp otherwise they charge 1:15000? Should I always avoid paying USD by card in general? how exactly does that all work? Can part of the rent be negotiated in lollars and some in fresh usd or everything nowadays is in fresh usd - what is the norm?

Sorry for the all the questions, I've been away quite some time and I understand a few things have changed since haha

Welcome back Flamie, long time no see :)

- I believe most of Achrafieh has coverage. If someone already has fiber in your building it will vastly simplify the process. Otherwise you're in for a treat...
- Checkout Dubizzle for rent. I'd say all rents are (fresh) dollarized by now.

I think they only charge 1:15000 for depositors who transferred their deposited LBP to USD after October 2019, this decision will remain till 31 December 2023, no one knows if they will renew or remove the 85% haircut next year

The problem with paying with USD card if the restaurant or store accept, is that there is probably a hidden 2% fee on checkout

If you mean part by Cheque from Lebanese Banks, only cash is accepted, if you have an old usd account in a Lebanese Bank you can check with them if you're eligible to withdraw 300 USD per month

Hello Flamie! Welcome back.

1. I believe yes Achrafieh is fully covered with Fiber, however, if you're going to settle outside Achrafieh check if there's WDSL coverage it is a great alternative instead of ADSL/Local Reseller (in case fiber isn't available in that area). Check IDM/Ogero for fiber prices: (https://www.idm.net.lb/fiber.html) & (https://ogero.gov.lb/service.php?type=business&id=51)

3. When it comes to pc parts always check the websites: ExpertZone (https://ezonelb.com/), AyoubComputers (https://ayoubcomputers.com/), Mojitech (https://mojitech.net/), Macrotronics (https://macrotronics.net/) and there's much more on Dubizzle (https://www.dubizzle.com.lb/) -> formerly known as OLX.

Forgot to mention as for WDSL check terranet (https://account.terra.net.lb/OnlineAppl … ation.aspx)
And for pc-parts also check: pcandparts (https://pcandparts.com/)

Goodluck!
