VHS/Betmax -> DVD

Whats the best way to convert my old movies into DVD format? I have both a betmax and VHS player and was thinking of buying some sort of card to do it through the computer, but I don't know anything about which card to get... and I've tried creating DVD's using various software and non of them ever worked properly...

Any suggestions?

PS: I was thinking of getting something from pcandparts
