What language does the Outlook Live website use?

For those Hotmail and Live users, you've seen what the site's like on the inside, right? It's almost as if it's flash animation, but it's not. The transitions and slick movement and interactive is awesome. Was wondering if anyone knows what was used to build a site like that.

As far as I know just regular javascript. Not saying its not impressive or a lot of hard work but with modern browsers you can do a lot with just javascript.

Note: There's no such thing as plain javascript, there's what your browser implements from the different specs out there such as canvas or sound or css animations and the like. But my point is that the need for flash or silverlight or similar has been decreasing as browsers get more powerful.
