Elie335

Applied to ADSL week ago, I have a long wait, so I would like to know please.

hi longbit
TBEGAMER
Yeah is their Wireless box good for gaming?
longbit
sorry for the delay,
first of all the wise box has similar ping to dsl, personally i like it more and it is useful in many situations even though the plans prices are bit expensive comparing to nowadays DSL prices.
but when it comes to gaming it can be as good as the DSL but with only one glitch, the base stations saturation, sometimes a huge number of users happens to connect to the same base station, causing the base station to overload hence you will feel some slowness in the connection speed, it is not a big deal because it can simply be solved by moving the wise box location a little bit so it connects to another base station. plus it's wireless tech, so if you live in faraya and you are in a middle of a storm you "MAY" face w small signal problem
if you can get "good signal" and you are ok with that go for it.
even if you have 5 lights(which is full signal) and low latency, yet you ping google and get packets drop, relocate the wise box (P.S such problem has low rate, but it happens, we can't force the client to position their wise box's as we please even thou that would be cool :P )
if it has better quota and more speed, i'd choose it over dsl, it is very easy to troubleshoot it, it simply work or don't. if you have signal it works that's it, unless you drawn it in a water tank then drive over it and use it for target practice.... or put it out side in the rain unprotected :X too many people do that.
@Dark am sorry mate, i will check it tomorrow...

Thanks for your reply LongBit, things are clearer now.
Can you provide us with a small list of ping to google.com please?
longbit
as for the wise box ping... in good condition (3 leds signal, no base saturation) the ping to google should be between 90 and 110 ms. (i tested it)

I would like to know how to open ports in a prolink router. I play fifa 13 and the firewall status is always restrictive.
longbit
i guess you mean port forwarding... or you just want to disable the firewall ?

I have 2 wise connections, one from beirut central and one from khaldeh central. Both connections were very stable so I almost always get the advertised speed, pings are low(90-120), more qouta then most other providers at the same price(12GB as apposed to 10GB at a 33$ range) and compared to my friends with Ogero and IDM my wise connection is noticeably better.

I'm subscribed to the Wise ADSL 2MB plan, it was always going smooth etc, and this began about a month and a half ago. Each day after around 7PM the whole internet slows down, all my games lag, videos load very slowly, pages load very slowly (though download speed stays the same.. which is very weird)
Yes I made sure that no one is using my connection at the same time and that I have no background programs consuming any internet. I am also connected directly into my computer.
Thank you

Can you ping a website in Europe such as google.co.uk and report the latencies?
DarkNe0441
This is right now. I will update with latencies when my internet starts lagging.

DarkNe0441 the very same thing is happening with me too, 2 Mbps plan, it seems that they are out of bandwidth, at peak hours the connection is becoming very bad :(
DarkNe0441
Have you tried calling them?
longbit
PM me your L numbers.. at this moment am kinda drunk :P will check it on monday
DarkNe0441
Done. Really hope it gets sorted out soon because it's starting to be really irritating..

I have used both the WISE BOX(from aley and beirut) and the 1MBps ADSL package, each for an extended period of time. Wise box is surprisingly good despite it being wireless, ping ranged between 150-250ms most of the time but hits up to a painful 1000ms ping sometimes, over all it is a good compromise for getting a portable internet connection. I'm currently using the same ADSL package(1MBps 12GB prepaid) in both beirut and aramoun(linked to khalde central i think) I get relatively low pings(hits 80ms sometimes to good, great for online gaming) and it is much more consistent then what my friends get from other ISPs, and the best thing about it is that most of the time I get the peak download speed of 126kbps even after 12. My favorite thing about WISE though is their costumer support, the employees there know exactly what they're doing and are very straight forward and helpful.
The ADSL routers supplied by wise are below average though, they are acceptable but for heavy users I highly recommend getting your own router and reconfiguring them yourselves(WISE support is very helpful with this situation and supply you with the configuration info on demand). Also approximately once or twice a month I lose connection completely for around an hour(maybe it's a problem from my side).
The prepaid ADSL package saves you from the hassle of paying monthly through your bank account, and helps you manage not to exceed the qouta limits thus saving you money from over usage.

E-mailed wise support and got no reply. Pretty weird.
