ubuntu 9.10 freeze

hi guys!

i installed ubuntu 9.10 on my asus laptop(500gb harddisk intel core2 duo p8700 2.53 ghz,4 gb ddr2 ram,1 gbnvidia geforce gt 220m cuda)i have got a problem.big problem.system freeze when i connected wireless and started to update then i push power off button.i cant surf ob internet,update,etc.
please help me!

what's up maaan:D!! i am a amateur linux user and i can't speak english very well.do you understand me?any way jadberro i think (?source of problem?) isn't wireless card.because i can use internet on vista.

its not the wireless card which is faulty but ubuntu is not recognizing your wireless card . whats the make of your wireless card i will check for compatibility ?

Isnt the WIFI card the traditional intel one ? 4965agn or 5100agn ?

I think his laptop is the ASUS N61-VG-A2 ...  so probably the Atheros.

i solved the problem.remove network-manager install  wicd
