Hey everyone,
I left Lebanon in 2006 and I have no idea what type of hardware is common now these days back home. I live in Canada now.
My system specs are in my sig. Please let me know your configs.
Thanks,
We are up to date compared to all other Arab countries and thanks to PCandParts.com it fulfill all computer fantasies, you can find anything you see on the west with reasonable prices except some very unusual parts.
as for me:
Core 2 Duo E8400, Asus P5Q Se, 4GB Kingston DDR2-800, GTX 260, Thermaltake VC3000 BWS case, Thermltake 550W TR2, Samsung 500GB.
Eh that's good to hear. How much did you system cost Aly?
AFAIK prices and availability are good as long as you buy mainstream hardware (mid-range, intel...).
If you want to have an idea about availability/prices try pcandparts.com
I can get cheaper prices though (maybe like 10% cheaper).It should give you an idea, though.
As you can see, entry and midrange prices are comparable to american prices (from what I gather online), but when you try to get something high end, or AMD (God forbid :rolleyes:) then you will have to shell out a big premium. I dont know if this pricing strategy is particular to this site or if its like this everywhere, but I think it is like this everywhere. I guess its something with the market and supply/demand.
I cant say much about common hardware... most of my friends (whats left of them, heh) have either a laptop or an outdated tower (or both). Oh and I have a friend who is into gaming and he has some impressive hardware, although I forgot the specs :rolleyes: he just bought like a black liang-lee (something like that) case and dual video cards, and I forgot the rest...
Basically, Not much changed since 2006. Except that Im not into hardware that much.
(why are you coming back? :/)

from what i have tried, most of the sold parts in here, are somehow of "lesser" quality.
anyway my specs are:
Core 2 Quad Q9550
Intel DX48BT2
8 GB Kingston DDR3
4x500Gb Seagate
NVidia GeForce GTX260
ThermalTake ToughPower 650W
@Padre
Nice specs man. Are you living in Lebanon? How much did that cost you?
@rolf
I am coming back because I was raised there. Nothing feels like home man! Even if the country is not in its best condition. Life is plain here (socially) The only good things here are Internet speed and hardware availability.
i dont remember. maybe around 1500$.
yeah i live in lebanon i can't live anywhere else anyway, i'll end in jail for sure
Wow man! 1500 for Lebanon is very reasonable. Which games do you play?
Listen to his funny story. I was once on a forum and people were posting their specs. One guy had 8GB of ram and everyone started making fun of him. They're like what the hell do you do with those 8GB? Watch HD porn?! I found it funny:D
Good point about living in Lebanon. It's been 3 years I am here, and i am about to blow. Bedda saber.
P.S: Change the were in your sig to where. (Unless you want it that way)

I built it 8 months ago so the parts are now cheaper :
E8400 = 200$
Asus P5Q SE = 149$
4 GB Kingston DDR2-800 (2GB Modules 27$ each)
Samsung 500GB = 75$
GTX 260 EXO edition (well lol I ordered a regular GTX 260 from PCandParts.com but they sent me the wrong Card in fact a better one that cost 30$ more they sent me a factory overclocked GTX 260 with 216 core the newer edition), for like 330$.
Thermaltake VC3000 BWS = 150$ little more or less
Thermaltake 550W TR2 = 125$ little more or less

What about the ahem erm *cough* err... ? :/
I was in motreal. Some things I loved, people seem to be more laid back and u can make friends easily and there are a bunch of lebanese. And... The organisation is great. Wherever you go you are being taken care of, offered great services, told what to do.
For example if you go skiing you dont find yourself having to push your way, run after some underage guy so that he can get you severely used skis and boots that stink.
In montreal, you fill a paper, stand in a small queue, and some guy will read the paper and give you skis in perfect conditions, as new (the boots too, I dont konw how they do it) of your size and set up to your liking, according to the paper.
Thats just an example.
I like it.

You have a point there, but social life here, in general, is not very accommodating to someone well raised and coming from Lebanon. Believe it or not, I do not have one Canadian friend. They're very shallow and non-sense.
Evne thought Leb is not in its best state, I will go back where I was raised and where I belong. I just feel sick here, but I am willing to sacrifice for the long run. That's my opinion.
i need 8Gb cause the softwares i use are ram hungry (i usually run some simulations / rendering) and i end up with a warning: Out of ram space ;)

Out of ram space ;)
I wonder, where does it run to when it runs out of ram space??
