slot machines ??? BlackJack FTW !
Make sure not to count..
it's not like the movies if you get caught counting, they will ask the dealer to shuffle or leave the casino
new ticket plans 2000 with hotels (add 120$ for registration )
The real hackers/phreakers and so on stay away from such events like DEFCON. Since more than 15 years it is known as a "step into the trap", sponsored by the FEDs and (guess) - more feds lurking around than hackers. Indeed, two popular PHRACK mates were traced
exactly at DEFCON (FEDCON). Maybe it is different now, but who knows.
it is true that it's being watched, still ... it's nice for the friends u meet there, the presentations and the contests (and of course, the drinks and parties).
What? hackerz have a life?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
*Runs out screaming*
I better find something else to do then...hmm i think i'll stick to cracking for the moment....;)
I don't know about now, but I've went to a total of 3 DEFCON events a few years back and we've always enjoyed waiting for them to play Spot The Fed. This was a looooong time ago when it was just so simple to break into any real system and develop any kind of trojan or exploit. I remember Cult of Dead Cow releasing Back Orifice. Cyber Army having some level system on hacking different codes/security logins. All in all, it's great fun. I suggest anyone who's interested in computers to go. You meet a lot of people and can see upcoming things that you skipped on websites (we didn't have RSS back then). haha
Anyway. I suggest and hope you guys go.
I don't think it's $100 though. Especially now with the economic turmoil. It used to be $60 or something like that.
And if your budget is a total of $2600. That's pretty cool all by itself
Oh. And you can count in Vegas mentally. It's not illegal. You just can't have any help outside of your brain.

a photographic memory can help
it's 120$ fee for the DefCon (you get a hackable badge and there is a contest about it )
CDCow releasing BO ... that must be quite some time ago the spirit is pretty much the same and the Spot the Fed is still alive:D
Ticket is for 1600$ and room reservation is for 110$ a night.
Hope to see some of you there !
It's $120!! DAAAAAAMN. They had the hacked badge challenge for a while, and it was never in the $100 range. That's crazy.
Wow...that would surely lure me away now. But there is that cool keyboard sniffer crap done through magnetic waves that I would like to see happen infront of me.
interesting .... never heard of it tho.
i know u can monitor CRT through magnetic waves ... didn't know anything was available for keyboards.
as for the 120$ ... it's peanuts for the price we pay for the ticket and hotel reservation
if u can make it there and the 120$ is a bit lot for you, i dont mind sharing (me may even have an extra bed in the hotel, let me know what happens )
we are even planning on joining the robot competition. seems not bad at all it's improving year by year.
Oh no, I'm not going. Don't have time to sorry. I was just relating the $120 to what it used to cost. That's a big increase.
