the reason ppl need new computers is cuz the software they use requires higher MSR (minimum System Requirement)
and ppl buy those new computers cuz the prices of hardware is becoming much much cheaper.. so they buy new hardware so the can run more complicated things at less time
by the way.. the number one winxp tip.. put CD... format

Install and run a good AntiVirus program to keep out viruses that can take over your system.

i don't really think so
install and run an antivirus.. i think that would eat up all ur ressources.. slow things down
i guess best practice is to know what u surfing .. and from time to time.. install something.. full scans.. then remove it

Before moving to OSX, I experimented a bit with sandboxes. I think it's a good technique provided you mix it with some common sense. You might actually get a good protection level.

Efficient, yet not quite accessible for the masses (basically, most people don't have time to get "friendly" w/ a new OS)
