I am sure you all know about it
the vista official release
i am asking :
who already has it up and running ?
who is planning to use it ? why.. why not?
any good versions in the Lebanese market (u know what i mean)
I plan to get my hands on one once they're on the market ;)
i tried one of the betas few months ago. but removed it in less than 24 hours, drivers issues and programs incompatibility,... but i think in the newer version most of the drivers problems should have been solved.
on 512MB ram, with nothing else installed, it was running good (nechker allah ya3neh ), bass i dont know if you start installing lots of stuff what would happen.
w curently using office 2007, till now, it's working smoothly.

My friend bought ultimate vista version (pirated i think), It ran good on his P4 3.0GHZ and 512Mb-ram, but when he enters windows media center it starts to lag and stuff, and it even crashed for like 4 times in a single hour.. so he immediately then formatted his pc and, installed winxp back, I think that vista is more likely dedicated for future high-end pc's, and modern ultra-high end systems now...

What's in it for me to move from xp to vista... user interface? OK but not worth the hassle for me.
rolf .. i think it is more than just Interface
it took them 5 years to do it
and around 7 billion dollar (will check the number later)
here is a good read .. read carefully

5 years, and many features have been removed from the initial project, like the filesystem.
Thanks, but no thanks =)

3 of my best friends are Tier 2 tech support for Microsoft Vista....neither one of them recomends it. If you are a gamer don't switch yet, if you have alot of pirated software, music, videos don't switch. Vista's DRM prevents you from running software like limewire.
Vista = linux's security (somewhat ;) ) + Mac OS interface. Rumor has it that the NSA helped micrsoft develop the security on the OS. Oh and their antivirus/spyware software also failed to detect certain viruses.... so ya if microsoft tech support says wait, then ill wait before I move from the RC version to ultimate.
Do not buy premium or home basic they are useless.
Vista is already my main development platform using .NET 2.0.
All game play just well, you just need the right drivers, specs.
Vista = linux's security (somewhat ;)) + Mac OS interface
No, Vista = wannabe OS X interface. And they don't get near the security and stability Linux provides.
