Network Access

Hi,

Once i saw a strange name on my net view list
I was unhappy about it

i had no tools or nothing to run exept the built in windows stuff
so i had the idea of trying to connect to this pc
so..the first idea that came into this dumb mind was to logo on as system
usually that would let me connect to his Windows

halla2 after i loged in as system.. it was ok

i loged off - but afterwards every one on the network is having problem now connecting to my pc

i can connect and see everyone
i can ping the router
other ppl can ping me and see me on the network
but when other ppl want to see shared resources, they get the log on window.. with the username disabled
and a guest account prompt

and by the way the guest account is off
and in the computer management only an administrator account is enabled

I messed it. i have to fix it

so the question..
can anyone suggest a checklist of the things to do to make other ppl able to connect
i know.. that is a weird question

but ur help is pretty much appreciated
thanks in advance

Re: Network Access

How is security? Domain (active directory) or standalone?
And what OS do you have, XP i guess?

Also try this:
start->run->mmc
You'll get the MMC (Micro$oft management console)

File->Add/Remove snapin->add
from the list choose "group policy"... add for local computer and OK to close all windows

now in the main window you got a tree on the left
go to Console Root->Computer Configuration->Windows Settings->Security Settings->Local Policies and play with settings there.

Note: if you are connected to a domain, the domain admin might have overridden these settings so you cannot change them.

Re: Network Access

you HAVE to have the guest account enabled
just disable the logon features inthe policies. but to allow others to have anon access to ur resourses, the guest must be enabled.
