War on Lebanon

Hello All

I hope all of u are still safe, your families and your loved ones too.
I know that you must have received a load of emails with links to pictures and articles about the current morbid war hitting lebanon. But what we shouldnt disregard is the propaganda carried by foreign countries, especially Israel,  against lebanon. I thought of opening this topic so maybe we can compile some websites that deal with votes and other public opinions that would allow us to interact and maybe make a change. Afterall, the media has a big impact, and believe it or not Israel has an army of cyber-dudes opening a huge amount of forums, blogs, and votes to favor the war on Lebanon. I know this is a tech forum, and i am approaching this topic in a humanitarian spirit, not in a political one. And i think we should compile the links leading to votes and other stuff where we can interact, not links to articles (Because i do know that all your inboxes are now full of articles). Try to forward those links.

http://www.giyus.org  is one of those websites run by Israel. They have a downloadable program that takes people to many many votes. We can manipulate that. They also have forums.

http://edition.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast … index.html   CNN have a vote "Do you think the war on Lebanon is justifiable". It started bad, but after a lot of efforts i think we are near something like 57% no (which is remarkable)

http://www.vote.com is apparently a big thing in the states, with a legal background (they also proclaim that they send the votes results to the whitehouse, which i dont believe). Go there, vote for the cease-fire. You need a valid US Post code for the voting to be accepted. Use something like 10000 or 33166 etc... Its still at 20%... guyz we need help there!

http://www.nowarlb.com (i heard about this site today. They have petitions there think)

http://mowatinun.blogspot.com (I heard about this today also. Dont know if they have petitions)

http://www.wewantpeacenow.com (Petition)

http://julywar.epetitions.net (Petition)

http://www.petitiononline.com/50600/petition.html (Petition)

http://www.petitiononline.com/Jul06Leb/petition.html (Petition)

What do you think ?

Re: War on Lebanon

On another note:

Because of the current circumstances, my family had to move to Aley. I am on a constant move between my house in beirut, and my family in Aley. I realized that i am spending a lot of time in Aley, and i know nothing but the house, and the store where i get Cigs from. Is there anyone out there who is currently residing in Aley ?

Re: War on Lebanon

I guess the most reliable polls are those conducted by accredited statistical agencies on the ground.
But I guess these online polls still do affect opinion in a way that someone who'd open CNN and see the vote results as for example "90% think that the war on lebanon is justifiable" is likely to think "oh well if 90% of people think so and i dont, then something must be wrong with me..."
And then question and doubt more their beliefs.

I wish someone would conduct a poll on the public image of the hezbollah.

Its also to distress...You yourself said it you just want to vote...well in the next elections vote for someone you like and you think might make a diffrence...

Re: War on Lebanon

Ragnar.. i've been saying this over and over, its sad i know. I wish everyone thinks like you do, and vote on this basis, not on the basis of who should be voted becuz they belong to which religion or sect. Anyways i don't want to turn this topic into a political one, if you're interrested i'll send you a text i once distributed once, and sadly got a bad feedback, instead of a positive one.

Re: War on Lebanon

Here's a new link
http://www.sign2help.com.
They say that by signing the petition you will be donating 10 cents for free to the lebanese children's.

I quote  "Every day Lebanese children are exposed to fear, violence, hunger, lack of water... Approximately 750.000 people have lost their houses and have sought refuge in overcrowded shelters with very limited electricity or access to water, or gathered in public areas.
By signing this petition you will help the Lebanese children and their parents to get clothes, food, medicine, protection and support. For every signature we get, you donate 10 cents to the Lebanese people in need. Our aim is to reach 10 million signatures that will translate into $1 million in funds.
Please help us spread the word in any way you can and invite your friends and family to do the same
Thank you for your help "

Re: War on Lebanon

well about the last website or link you posted, it is really a clean and nice site (i liked the design) maybe i am always bit paranoid but :
- why isn't there any link "About Us" stating who did this website and taking
responsability and no information about bank account or anything
- in some areas you are required to enter the username and the password :S
to import ur contact list ( they could make a form requesting u to enter email
addresses (i am sure there is another way than password)
- they did not state who is donating and u are not clicking on any add or somethin
so the mechanism is not quite clear for me (How it Works)

......................

so the bottom line, maybe it is a long post to tell you not to give away ur email address, or ur email and password, but just know what u do and don't get fooled
for me i won't sign, my email address and password are important info for me
it depends if it is important for you

Then i sent their website by my own mailforward, ur right its safer. Just sign in, it takes 5 seconds, they send u a reply, u click on it to validate and Voila. Nothing to lose

Re: War on Lebanon

I got this now.

http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/pages/rosnerMain.jhtml

Here you can answer the question asked about a cease fire. You can actually write a long response, its a blog for Haaretz. But they have to approve it before posting it... yeah i know, but why not giving it a try too.

Re: War on Lebanon

well if u just signed that means u gave them ur email address
and u clicked on something
halla2 i am not saying that this can install malware, but i highly doubt that there is actual money going to anyone
they are just collecting addresses for spam maybe

that all i wanted to say... well ur free to do whatever u want
i was just being the person who sees something bad in everything
