Finally they set up the direct link to VISP today (not GDS!)
I feel relieved of having a decent latency now :)
Congratulations :)
If u have any questions... tell them here :)
Do not be so happy, rolf :)
This is a demo version :-D
Good move, but on bad time.
No, now serious - congratulations.

Yeah, why did you guys remember to enable the traffic shaping ;) ?
For a moment I was downloading at 380 KBytes/s
Thanks
If you have nothing to do you can scan my pc :)

Do you think it would be a good idea to inable squid on my router to communicate with your caches?
I can try to scan but later... for now too much work...
Yes, you can peer with our caches
Check which is faster to you
194.146.153.114 and .115 port 8080 - one location
194.146.153.28 .29 .30 port 8080 - another location
if there access denied message, let me know in PM, tell me ur ip, i will open in ACL
nuclearcat, can you check PM?
nice nice mabrouk
rolf: i did and replied 2 u
hehe great .. no more topics from rolf with the title IDM Sucks :)
khay .. rta7na min il na2 :)
just kidding
Yes, really "great".
Now he will switch cursing at VISP :)

that took some time huh!
yup
nuclearcat please see my previous post
I only connected to your cache using HTTP protocol, not ICP.
I could not connect to the ICP port... (using default value 3130)
Does ICP offer considerable performance gains?
If you want I can open my ICP port for you, I have closed it. I have a 1gb cache.
thanks :)

ICP will help to chose fastest cache, or cache where requested document is cached. U can leave as u have, it doesn't matter too much.
I have a question, what is the latency to the U.S.A., or to Europe? Is it really decent enough like for online play ( atleast with Europe )
I'm switching to VISP too, so...

I'm switching to VISP too, so...
Latency on international links seems to be around 600 ms
Not good enough to play fps online :(
We are working to make latency lower. There is corruption problem in some structures in Lebanon, i think someone will be jailed soon, and VISP will get upgrade. It is related to "fair competition", and methods used to compete.

There is nothing that can allow you to play an FPS online from Lebanon.
In the very very very best case, the latency is about 200ms.
try to play CS on 200ms and you will see. On our network people start nagging when it reaches 70ms...
so, guess.
I can deal with 500 ms with a FPS shooter... I used to always have to play with that with my old internet.
So, 200ms in the very best case would be to where? In Europe?
Rolf, what kind of connection do you have? VISP 128k, 256k, or 512k? And also, can you do a traceroute to like bbc.co.uk and a traceroute to, I dunno, yahoo.com or msn.com or something like that? Thanks
Sorry I'm asking for you to work hard it was just kind of embarrassing when I was on my X-Box and I had a latency of around 2000-2500 ms with the internet I got now and someone in India had a latency of 300-400 ms
@Halo: do not underestimate india... half of the world's tech support happens there, and trust me, it's their telecommunications networks that's to thank...
I have VISP 64 by 256
I would have done a traceroute but those guys did something; blocked ICMP somewhere... and I cant see no results.
I remember that your old IDM account rolf had a latency of like 250 ms to the US, but it was connected to GDS, would VISP have a similar latency to that?
Or did the latency numbers in Lebanon change after all the problems it has been going through?
