Re: Need your opinions on a custom gaming PC

H97 for a 2000$ budget? No No No.

----------------------------------------------

CPU: Intel Core i7 4770 8M LGA1150
M/B: MSI Z97 GAMING 7
RAM: Kingston HyperX 16GB (2 x 8GB) - Choose the one with low voltage
Cooler: Corsair CWCH80i Hydro H80i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
Case: Corsair Vengeance C70 Mid-Tower Gaming Case Military Green (BAD ASS CASE)
PSU: Corsair CMPSU-RM750 750W 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular PSU
SSD: Kingston HyperX 3K SH103S3/240G 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
HDD: 2TB WD2003FZEX 7200RPM SATAIII 64MB Black Edition
GFX: MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G GeForce GTX 970 4GB GDDR5

If too expensive, replace the:
CPU with Intel Core i5 4690K
M/B with MSI Z97 GAMING 5
PSU with a 650watt capacity (but I don't recommend that)
Cooler with air cooling such as ThermalTake CLP0587 Frio Extreme or ThermalTake CLP0575 FrioOCK
SSD with Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB

Do you need a monitor, keyboard, mouse, UPS, table, chair?

Re: Need your opinions on a custom gaming PC

NOO, go for the Haswell 4.0GHz i7-4790K
and why would he need liquid cpu cooler?
plus 750w psu is overkill

edit: why not the h97?

Re: Need your opinions on a custom gaming PC

Core i5 4690K is an overkill for gaming and other general computer tasks; Core i7 4790K will add no benefit and overclocking is not going to add drastic performance increase (unless encoding videos or rendering, which I am not sure if the OP is doing so)

Air cooling is a thing of the past; Intel's CPU cooler is pathetic. Get an H80i; this thing can kick heat's ass

A 750watt PSU is never an overkill

Re: Need your opinions on a custom gaming PC

but the i7 will be future proof, and I see no reason to use a liquid cooling system unless you are planning to overclock which would be pointless, and indeed there is no need for 750w, the gtx 970 needs 278 watts in full usage: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/ms … iew,7.html

Re: Need your opinions on a custom gaming PC

i7 isn't future proof it is used for different tasks than an i5, first and second gen i7s did NOT last more in enthusiast builds than gen 1 and 2 i5s.

Re: Need your opinions on a custom gaming PC

lol this is hard for everyone to discuss ..

First: a PSU and a CASE are forever and i wouldn't recommend more than 750W unless you are looking to add a VGA every time you get money for it.

Second: investing in an overclocking CPU for a gaming PC "as my 4790k" will make you feels bad after a while when you realize you are not gonna do it.

Third: are you gonna import some parts from abroad ? if yes only get the VGA "960 or 970" and a CPU cooler. anything heavy like a case  will cost you more to import than what is around

Fourth: Rams and SSDs are best bought from "pc and parts" hands down

Fifth: use http://pcpartpicker.com/ to check the compatibility of your parts

Hold your balls people. (Kidding BTW)

@Hasan:
- Are you planning to get the rig in the near future or are you ready to buy it?
- Do you want just the case or with everything else?
- If you have a screen, what resolution is it?
- Do you have a UPS? If so how many VA is it?
- What will it be used for? If it's not for gaming, specify the applications please

Don't you dare get a pre-assembled rig. The specs will be horrible as well.

If you're planning to get it in 5 months. Then discuss it in 5 months. Lots of things change

Re: Need your opinions on a custom gaming PC

Lets discuss it early so that he gets all the data before making his decision, most times the OP buys the pc in the middle of the thread argument. Anyway I second Nemesis about the 4790 k. I have often drooled over photos of it. If the OP gets an ssd(and he better) the cpu clock speed will become a major player in the pc performance when doing just about anything (even as simple as searching for a file in the drive) Because usually the slow hard disks keep the cpus idle, but SSDs do not.

I don't think the fifth gen will be ready in lebanon in 5 month. And so far I have not seen any impressive cpus from intel (the 6 cores aside) nothing so far toppled the 4790k in clock speed. And the advertising focus is on its awesome new integrated graphics, which your system will not be using anyway if you have any GPU.

Re: Need your opinions on a custom gaming PC

Prices and products will drastically change in 5 months. 390X might be out, price drops might happened. Stock might be replaced or be finished. RAM prices change.

In the last 5 months, 900 series got released, HDD prices came down by %10, RAM prices came down by %9, new brands got available in Lebanon, including Corsair cases, new PSUs and 5000 series CPUs got released.

It would be much wiser to discuss the build when the information is more accurate and useful.

Re: Need your opinions on a custom gaming PC

Yeah I take back what I said, you are right. I remember when I bought a cpu that was fairly new at the time(last year, 3570) and within  month went out of stock, the boards that support it disappeared and suddenly I felt like I have a very old hardware.

It's only fun if it's your computer and you do it like once.
Anyway I think you should mount it yourself if you can. The result will be better and there will be less chance for a bad surprize. Then you can mod your PC, change fans, mod the case, etc.
