What's the best VNC viewer for linux?

On windows I used few, like tightvnc, I don't know if and how well they work on Linux. Debian/Ubuntu. What do you guys use to connect to your server?

Do you absolutely need graphical access to your remote server?

I manage my remote Debian servers with ssh. Most linux servers will be running an ssh daemon waiting for connections, and most linux distributions will have an ssh client installed by default, so you wouldn't need to install anything to run it.

In the linux (and free unix) world, you'll most often come across the OpenSSH implementation.

yes because my host doesn't have a template for changing the os, formatting it, whatever, so I do all my work with ssh, but if i want to change the distro or format the vps, i have to mount the image from my account and then login using vnc to reinstall it or whatever

There is the remote desktop built in, in Ubuntu that allows you to do VNC.
