they also claimed you needed a special internet line in order to get speeds higher than 2 Mbps. God knows what is real and what is not. Ill stick to the 4 Mbps package.
Guys its in less than 2 week and still no infos on isp websites!
i called sodetel yesterday and they told me that they may update their website on the 24th , but nothing confirmed yet.

what do you mean?
http://www.idm.net.lb/about/news/index1.asp
will gradually implement major improvements
starting October 1st, 2011
http://corp.terra.net.lb/PressRoom/newDSLchanges.asp
In line with Government decision on DSL prices, Terranet Customers will benefit
Lower Prices for a higher speed !
New DSL prices available soon
GREAT ADSL PRICES
AND HIGHER SPEEDS coming soon
If you're talking about details(them publishing the prices) I think the reason they have not yet is because they most probably were waiting for the Decree to be published on the Official Gazette... and since this happened on Thursday, I believe they will begin listing the prices anywhere from Monday(since Friday is usually off(no work)) to the last day(hopefully that is)
Hmm, just checked my Zhone router info:
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 6648 288
@MrClass: This is the rate your line can attain, that doesn't mean your line speed is upgraded, anyway it is a good feature in Zhone modems.
How to check this attainable rate on Thomson routers?

Yes I know what attainable rate means (DOH!)
How to check this attainable rate on Thomson routers?
on the main page
Broadband Connection>DSL Connection>Details
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 125 / 512
that what i got :/
doies it mean that my line cant support more?

no... that is just to tell you your current connection speed.. what determines your maximum attainable speed is two things: Line Attenuation, and SN Margin
how much are yours?
Mine are:
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 46,5 / 69,0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 21,5 / 8,5
How much is that then ?
I tried the link on the page back but i keep getting a error.
EDIT:
Just figured it out, i can only get utmost 1mb
What a crappy infrastructure may i say so.
My SN margin thing seems to be EXTREMELY low - seriously what a joke this country is - good job i'll be spending most of my fall in a university dorm - it's already fast enough i suppose.

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 16,0 / 25,0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 31,0 / 30,5
these are my line attenuation and my SN Margin
when i put my info in this site : http://212.23.23.177/calc.htm it shows me that my line can handle at max 1024 kbps and when i putt my info here : http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php it shows me that my max speed could reach 8128 kbps
and my connection speed on the modem is :Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 128 / 512
and i have the 256 plan from sodetel
so plz any explanation about the connection speed and confirmation about how much my line could handle .
thanks.
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 9,0 / 24,0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 21,0 / 23,0
How much can I handle?
The 2 sites stated up there gives me way different results so please help
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 8,0 / 13,0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 26,0 / 30,5
As well would like to know

Check here and you can estimate your speed limits. Note - it is theoretical MAX limits, so maybe you will have 80% of those, depends on conditions.

According to you my line can support approximately between 23 and 18 Mbps! O_O
Yes. But note, ISP must have ADSL2+ DSLAM. Some, i notice, post picture with RE-ADSL(Annex L). It can do only 5 DL/0.8 UP.
I am afraid of the old good message from ISP ''starting October 1st in some areas of Beirut, and gradually over 10 months for the rest of Lebanon''
So all the promises of sehanoui were bull***
Anyway we are so happy to get 2 and 4 mb speed when Europe is at 100mb right now, what a Lebanese revolution eh?
My line can handle up to 18Mbit :)
Quick Question - Will the changes happen on October 1 or the changes gradually start from that date.

The Changes will be on October 1 for all customers of IDM , Cyberia and Ogero at the same time.
I called Ogero today and they told me that no change before at least November.

I prefer not calling any ISP for any information because of some bad experience by other friends/users. Check on Flip The Switch group on FB some users asked the staff on the phone and the reply was that they didnt know if any upgrades are coming.
Another example is from a user here on lebgeeks, he called his ISP and he asked if they are going to improve the bandwidth on October 1st. He replied(Staff): "Yes we will increase everything quota, bandwidth and ping(Ouch, yes he siad that)". By the way the user was talking to the "technical staff".
Conclusion: From this we can learn that all the regular staff know (not all though) that there are internet upgrades coming but they dont know when and what the new plans are, along with the prices.
