Guys, that means the connection speed between your modem and the CO is upgraded, still waiting for speed upgrade from the ISP itself.

Does Sodetel use a different link for http and non http connections?

hussam - Most of ISP's do that, in Leb. Except Ogero.

That could explain why he's getting different ping results on pingtest and speedtest then.

Guys, remember to keep this topic for questions. No speed tests (unless they answer a question) – use the "IMEWE effect over time" topic for that.

This is not for Terranet users.
We already are paying 36000LL for 256 connection
So this graph is for Ogero users i guess

So does this apply in the future, or the current meantime? I should contact them...

Re: Internet in Lebanon - General Questions

So if I have a 512k now it will be automatically upgraded to 4mb in the coming weeks?
No need to do new papers right?

Re: Internet in Lebanon - General Questions

Starting October ...

This is stupid: “If everyone is downloading a lot, it puts constraints on the network,” he said. “That decreases the quality of connections for all users. If you use the Internet normally, the cap won’t be a problem.”

EDIT: Hope they will fix the Unlimited Night Traffic CAP load problems, if they were planning to lower price. (load will be increased)

Re: Internet in Lebanon - General Questions

They should buy lot of IPs, not us using less downloads!!
What the hell is this country where ISPs and ministry always play victims and citizens are the bad guys??

Re: Internet in Lebanon - General Questions

I will explain in simple words.
You have straight pipe to house from water pump in the area. No counter (other countries there is counters).
Let's say everybody likes to open water and water flowing all around to their toilers and etc. They just leave it open always.
Then only 1st floors will have water only. The higher u live, the pressure will be too low to reach u.
Same about electricity.

The unmetered goods are for people who respect and use them productive and proper way and do economy, not downloading gigaz of warez, and then deleting it or never ever open it, and just feeling so good that they downloaded or have them.

Re: Internet in Lebanon - General Questions

According to the decree, quota is going to be split by the download/upload ratio which is roughly 80/20.  So if you are going to be getting a 2 meg connection with 25 gig of quota, 20 gig will be for the download and 5 gig upload.  I will post the official decree when it becomes available.

no  the upload SPEED will be 20% of download speed  the quota will be shared between the download and upload.

Although I'm a warez user and I mainly download HD documentaries, there are still lots of ways where you could use the speed and the bandwidth to download. For example, I downloaded an application on my xoom just to test it out, it's a speed racing game, when I launched it I got a notice that I need to download a 500MB update file for the game to work. If I'm gonna download this on my 30kb/s I'm gonna have to wait 2 days!

Without some sort of unlimited traffic, even at night, this whole thing is a sham.
