I have 37 on adsl mode with snr margin 16 and the max is 5, does this mean the problem is from the modem?!

your snr is 16, when I sync on such speeds I have 10.5 snr
it appears that you're not with ogero and your isp is limiting your speed
also I did a installation from zero for everything and got some parts from USA
if anyone is interested I am ready to help

i'm with ogero!

on adsl i get 37 line attenuation and snr margin 16
on adsl2+ i get 43 line attenuation and snr margin 11

then you have internal problem,I cant guarantee that you will get the same as my speed but I think it deserve changing internal wiring

How much is your sn margin? Does it fluctuate alot? You may need to ask your isp to raise it a little to gain stability at the expense of some speed

When i was on 4mbps it used to vary alot between 21 and 25 and this was a source of concern for me but since i got open speed it became very stable at 10-11.

This is indeed very critical error, hope this will not happen to me since I switched also to 4Mpbs / Unlimited. Waiting for the end of this month to get the bill for the September and October. What will be your move mate ? Will you take any action ?

Re: Internet in Lebanon - General Questions

Is there such a thing that the centrals upgraded some people to open speeds and others to 4MB (even tho they requested open speeds)? or is wise bullshitting me?

Before open speed my internet was reaching 5 mb/s
After open speed they lowered it to 3 mb/s because they claim I have disconnections
Thank you IDM

Mr Kreidieh said on TV that they will start with distant areas then move to cities not the opposite.

because internet in cities is now better than in rural areas

That's logical, unfortunately "paying capacity" of dense cities is much higher than rural areas, and maintaining same level of service in areas with lower population density, in opposite - higher.
Kreidieh doing socially great thing then, but... i hope not a failing in terms of economic sense.

But eventually, 80% of populated areas will be covered within the first 18 months. it is not like cities will be left out of the plan. and most probably, they will work in several areas (cities and rural ones) in parallel.

Re: Internet in Lebanon - General Questions

Beit Misk is the first residential community that has real FTTC /FTTH infrastructure of speeds tipping 1Gps, but every thing comes with its price.

Update:

In a session headed by Prime Minister Saad Hariri, a settlement was reached with the MoT after the Cabinet approved L.L150 billion in funding for the fiber optic project. - The total cost of the project, which will be implemented over a four-year period, amounts to $300 million. I think it is a positive move , but still a long way to go to have a good FTTH coverage for wider areas , mainly in Beiurt, now it is a case by case feasibility study.

Re: Internet in Lebanon - General Questions

Beit Misk i believe is a bit show off for publicity, as they need to sell apartments, especially because real estate sales is very bad shape now. I have one friend who had apartment exactly there, as he said "far below expectations".

I have even proof of showoff, bot they mentioned in presentation has no place to register even for residents:
https://www.facebook.com/BeitMisk-Bot-851281345026244/

I dont know _real_ state of FTT* there now.

Can you take a picture of the fiber cabinet and post it here? would be appreciated.

Also those who have connection via FTTC, is it VDSL2? what are the down/up speed they're having? the latency should be better than the usual ADSL as well.
