Testing on speedtest.net is completely unstable with a lot of fluctuations. Sometimes i get 200 Kbps download and then 1100 Kbps, while upload is always constant at about 300 Kbps. That is unless i test it not during peek times which almost started this moment.
So i to go for best results i used Free Download Manager and downloaded an update from the AVG site, total size is about 7 MB. The download speed was a constant 208 KBps.
Note: i was testing on the Damascus server.
I think IDM is doing something nasty behind the scenes so that they dont implement a Fair Usage Policy and throttling your speeds. On peek times from about 11 pm till 1:30 am streaming videos on Youtube is not 2 Mbps but 1 Mbps, yet the download speeds are at 2 Mbps(but with a little more speeds, up to 220 KBps).

Ya I think you outta consider changing ISPs, because I'm an Ogero user too, I got upgraded to the default 1mbps(I'm from Saida) and today I went to the "Central" to apply for the 2mbps upgrade.Kareem wroteWhen did you request the upgrade? I have called Ogero as I'm connected to Bir Hassan and they said new speed is still not available !kareem_nasser wroteISP: IDM
Central: Bir Hasan
Place of Residence: Tareek El Jdideh
Original Plan: 512k
Upgraded Plan: 2 M Plan

Note: From a set of speed tests my download speed reached 1800 Kbps maximum.
Their answer:"Sorry but the highest option we can give for now is the 1Mbps with 10GB/month for 38,000L.L/month since we haven't recieved information yet on anything else"
I was about to rage but I *sigh'd* instead, since with the 1mbps I'm passing my limits easily(my total usage for this month is 16GBs)
so I'm gonna apply for Terranet's 2mbps plan, from what I've seen their pings are lower than Ogero's! + the "unlimited" download nights will surely help me keep on my budget.
and if there's a long waiting time, that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make!
yes, but mostly because you're testing to a server half-a-world distance away from Lebanon. Try testing to Paris, France and check
I'd advise you to wait. I don't trust private ISPs. Sometimes they downgrade your plan for apparently no reason and sometimes the speed at night is awfully slow.Raficoo wroteYa I think you outta consider changing ISPs, because I'm an Ogero user too, I got upgraded to the default 1mbps(I'm from Saida) and today I went to the "Central" to apply for the 2mbps upgrade.Kareem wroteWhen did you request the upgrade? I am sure things will get better with Ogero but WHEN ? the question remains unanswerd.

Fiberlink Networks ?MegaCool wrotehttp://www.speedtest.net/result/1611555820.png
Cedarcom SAL, a wireless data networking Services Company and Fiberlink Networks, the leading corporate ISP signed today (2003) a strategic partnership agreement.
Under the agreement, Cedarcom will provide wireless last mile access services to Fiberlink corporate clients in Lebanon, while Fiberlink will offer internet access services to Cedarcom clients.
"The reciprocal strategic agreement is beneficial to both companies. However, this is a non-exclusive agreement, and both companies will have businesses with other providers. We need to be sure that non-bias relationship is created under this umbrella", said Camille Nammour, Sales Manager at Cedarcom.
This is one of several other agreements being negotiated at the time being with ISPs or IT players in the market.
"We are glad that Cedarcom decided to come into the market, and we consider it as a viable new alternative to providing access and last mile connectivity to our corporate clients. We are sure that Cedarcom will fill the needed gap in the market" said Selim Mjaess, Sales Manager at Fiberlink.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Headquartered in Beirut, Cedarcom, SAL is a Lebanese company holds a wireless data networking and VSAT license from the Ministry of Telecom. Cedarcom is currently building its wireless network covering the Lebanese Republic. Cedarcom offers wireless solutions to ISPs, banks, multi-branch office companies, and home users
Actually it's VISP, sometimes it shows Fiberlink Networks, for some reason I don't understand.

IDM sucks big time
how come?Mr. Anderson wroteIDM sucks big time
i'm with IDM..no prob at all
I live in Aramoun--I think it happened around noon today. As far as why others didn't get the upgrade, I couldn't begin to tell you. The last set of upgrades went from Chouifat to Damour, skipping Khaldeh so understanding the methodology or logic on how they do things would either require several doctorates or a trip to the nuthouse.omarmasri wroteman I am with Khalde CO but I didn't get the upgradexazbrat wroteFinally upgraded by Ogero

I was going to go on an update spree this weekend :(
Nothing yet. They upgraded it for ~1 hour 15 days ago, and that's it.The last set of upgrades went from Chouifat to Damour, skipping Khaldeh
Sorry to hear that--so far so good on the speed here. I can't say that browsing is fast, but it does feel much more responsive. Pages load quicker, but not super fast and the embedded videos play without buffering or minimal buffering. It's a good start. I hope everyone starts getting used to this soonbelal wroteNothing yet. My speed used to be 512.
