So let's set a rough schedule (timing is set according to the chronological order of the requests on this thread except for lorcan's touchscreen and PIC programming which are set last to dedicate enough time for them and to present related subjects successively... call me a control freak but a set schedule is something concrete that we can follow, I don't tread on air)
1) "Get to know your fellow geeks" (9:00 am - 10:00 am):
This includes breakfast and mingling of the attendees.
2) "Ruby on Rails" (10:00 am - 10:45 am):
Samer will introduce Ruby on Rails and maybe demonstrate an application. A short discussion follows. Attendees agree at end of discussion on what aspects concerning the subject will be discussed in next meeting.
3) "ASP.NET MVC 3" (10:45 am - 11:30 am):
If someone would like to step up and do a small presentation and demonstration concerning the subject, he/she will get the floor for 30 min, then a small discussion will follow. Otherwise, attendees who have had a hands-on experience so far will get turns to discuss their point of view. Attendees agree at end of discussion on what aspects concerning the subject will be discussed in next meeting.
4) "AGROS - The New Limited Shell" (11:30 am - 12:15 pm):
Seeing that rahmu will not be able to be on Skype with us, attendees will spend the dedicated time slot in discussing their opinions, comments, and maybe possible suggested improvements. In next meeting, rahmu (hopefully in person) will get to do a small presentation on the topic, and maybe with emphasis placed on inquiries and interests of members which have benn set during this "informal conference". For those who would like to read about it before the meeting, check this
thread.
5) "Luch Break" (12:15 pm - 12:45 pm):
Lunch time!!
6) "iOS Apps on iPhone/iPad - Objective-C and Cocoa Touch Framework" (12:45 pm - 1:30 pm):
MSD will do a small presentation about Objective-C and how it's used in generating iOS apps for the iPhone and iPad, compare it to X language (X: to be determined by MSD), and discuss how Cocoa Touch is used as a framework for the iOS apps. A simulation will follow. mesa will present some examples of how mobile apps are developed for the medical field. A short discussion follows. Attendees agree at end of discussion on what aspects concerning the subject will be discussed in next meeting.
7) "Lorcan's Touchscreen" (1:30 pm - 2:15 pm):
Lorcan will present his nice, Arduino-based touchscreen (design, hardware, software, maybe code snippets, whatever you see interesting and informative). A short discussion follows. Attendees agree at end of discussion on what aspects concerning the subject will be discussed in next meeting.
8) 15 min break
9) "PIC Programming: What It's All About..." (2:30 pm - 3:00 pm):
A brief presentation about what is PIC programming and what are the hardware and software involved. Special emphasis is made on Arduino Atmega chips, and a brief explanation about how to code with Arduino language. This phase is a transition phase from lorcan's Arduino demonstration to having the attendees program their own chips in anice workshop to follow.
10) "Workshop: Arduino Programming" (3:00 pm - 4:00 pm):
A small application will be conducted by J4D first, then the attendees will be divided into groups in an attempt to design a simple circuit on the Arduino demo boards (I have two, and I'm sure J4D will be gracious enough to provide some more; I'll bring a heave of electronics like resistors, LEDs, photocells, etc... and J4D will bring his). A short discussion follows. Attendees agree at end of discussion on what aspects concerning the subject will be discussed in next meeting.
11) "Lebgeeksversity™: Let's Watch a Video..." (4:00 pm - 5:00 pm):
Attendees will watch a 30 min video concerning a certain technological advancement or software development (voting poll is opened on this
thread). Discussion follows, and attendees suggest some topics that the video which will be screened in next meeting will be about.
12) 10-min Feedback Session
12) "Farwell eveyone": كل واحد بروح مطرح ما بدو
