Ok, we can use the meeting to propose a guideline on which topics to discuss (what-when-where). But can we at least tackle a couple of subjects? I vote for the iOS apps using Objective-C and Cocoa Touch framework (it's my priority for now).

Mesa, bring an external hard disk with you. I will share a video series that would introduce you to iOS development :)
I wouldn't mind a talk about iOS development, but I would also like to see a talk about automated tests and Test Driven Development.

I guess I could tackle tdd but definitely not this Monday.
lorcan32
I agree the length should not be a problem as the schedule is up, people can attend topics that they are interested in.
Joe
Does anyone have a project that he or she wants to present at the meeting? Instead of having theoretical talks about technology, what if we shared our real-life achievements?
It could be anything: A website, an app, showing off your desktop, a mobile application, finding an exploit, a small gadget you developed, a robot, ... ?
Here could be a great start.

well i would have loved to contribute something, but i am under some serious time constraints in this little time left, let's not expect something big from this get-together, let it be the precursor for great things to come
samer
I suggest a 2 hour informal programming-oriented get together on Monday (morning?). Pass by even if you can't stay for long. This should make it easier to organize future conference-type events.
arithma
It's awesome how the community can sort things out by itself :)
Of course we're not going to abide by a schedule. I am sorry to have included the word "conference" when I knew most of us would understand "meeting".
@mesa: The schedule shows much enthusiasm towards pushing others to contribute, but this meeting is about putting on the table the ideas and the little things we have been working on. Seeing what we can work on together in the future. Continuing this very paragraph in the meeting is the purpose really...
We will be ready for anyone wanting to show work. I know I want to share a couple or three nifty stuff, so I'll get my laptop with me and it humbly has the following in its inside:
- Windows 7 (running on 32 bit, 2GB of RAM, around 220GB of free HDD space, GeForce 9600M (runs up to DX10))
- Visual Studio 2010, ASP.NET MVC3, EF4 (I'll see into the latest version and install it if it doesn't breaks any of my work), SQL Server Express (that comes with VS), SQL Management Studio
- DirectX SDK June 2010 (includes DX11 libraries)
- Enterprise Library 5
- Apache 2.2, PHP, MySQL Server 5
- VMWare Workstation 7
- VMWare Player 7
- A Mac OS X 10.6.6 VMWare Image with XCode 4 Installed (and other default stuff)
- Adobe Flash CS5
- FlashDevelop
- QtCreator
- Eclipse with Jave SE SDK + GWT Plugin (SDK included by default)
- GHC (Haskell)

ok so I do not know anything in Hamra :D how can I get to t-marbouta? :)
cnicolaou
Just visited this forum after a lonnnnnnnngggggg break.
Where's the flipping Doodle link? When this is happening?
samer
Bad news guys: T-Marbouta is closing for relocation tonight. Yes, we're two days late.
Should we postpone till we find a suitable place?
@cnicolaou: welcome back! Theoretically it should happen this Monday. But we're having some location issues.
Ayman
How about we go back to Dardashat as the place? Anyone knows of a better place?
samer
AymanFarhat wroteHow about we go back to Dardashat as the place? Anyone knows of a better place?
That certainly is an option. Does everyone know where the place is? I have no idea how to get there.
Ayman
I think
thats it . Btw if you feel like postponing the meeting I have no problem with that.
arithma
The t-marbouta thing is a bummer, but we have to adjust.
It's my mistake for procrastinating the reservation.
I believe dardatashat is close to z2a2 el blat but we need precise directions to give to our trusted service drivers.
mesa177
Dardashat it is (bummer).
Here's some directions:
At the end of Mar Elias, beginning of Batrakieh, there's a chocolate shop called "Elsa Chocolate" (where the Sawi Zantout bus number 2 goes to Sasine Square). Continue driving/walking until you see HHSII school (the one that looks like a state penitentiary). Across the school, there's a parking lot on the corner and then another school (Maanieh School) to its left. Just across the Maanieh School is a small place with an old wooden door => that's Dardashat.
Here's the map as seen on Wikimapia:
http://wikimapia.org/#lat=33.8907326&lon=35.4964399&z=17&l=0&m=b
PS: Skafi, if you're coming by bus from Saida, meet me next to Kadmous on Cola, and we'll go together by bus. I know the area like the back of my hand.
samer
Don't you guys think this is too short of a notice to switch places?
Should we postpone and try to explore the different options (should any arise)?
Ayman
samer wroteDon't you guys think this is too short of a notice to switch places?

Yes it is a short notice I think but if all the members who were already going agree on dardashat I don't think there would be a problem. So far we have: Me, Samer, Arithma, Mesa , lets give it a chance and wait and see for the others.
ali-koubeissi
Count me in as well. Same goes for Kassem as far as I know.
Kassem
Yup, anything works for me... I just need a way to find Dardashat (or whatever place you guys decide on). I do not know much about Beirut but I guess it shouldn't be hard to locate some place anyway :)
