you will be connected to the 2G network, and yes you will get edge. the only difference is the speed
so whatsapp will be available ?, i mean its like you have blackberry internet on your smartphone (not a blackberry) what i mean with blackberry internet is the edge it uses , thank you for answering.
it will work but will be somewhat sluggish - regardless it will work.

happy 3G'ing

ZeRaW wroteFinally on 3G so far so good.
For some reason if you activate it the 1st te thy charge it double! (10->20, 19->38)
No, that's not true. I activated the small package of 3G for the first time (mtc;prepaid) and 10$ was removed from my account (not 20$).
Well that is what the operator told me.
Mine is officially working on mtc but the speed is damn slow. This is not a 3G speed. We should at least get 10Mbps. I'll post the speedtest later.

No man, 10Mbps is too high for a commercial version of 3G, Average speed for fixed is 2Mbps, for mobile is 384Kbps.
That's very slow. The actual 3G speed is 10Mbps.
sevag00 wroteThat's very slow. The actual 3G speed is 10Mbps.
No it is not. Get over it.
Then why they stayted that it could reach 21 mbps?
omar_killer wroteThen why they stayted that it could reach 21 mbps?
It is because in theory (in perfect conditions, no bad weather, full capacity a perfect network) this speed should be attainable, in reality its not.
Does anyone have a problem with 3G and E going off on an iPhone 4? I'm in ras Beirut and the 3G/E signal is not stable at all..
I'm not really satisfied at all with this. (i don't care much for the speed as far the connection is online all the time)
omar_killer wroteThen why they stayted that it could reach 21 mbps?
Yes, that's in theory which is unattainable. We should at least be seeing 10Mbps. You'll experience real 3G speeds maybe within 5 years. Within that period of time, the rest of the world will move on to 5G networks. As always, they promise for something and in the end it turns out to be something else. That's the Lebanese mentality, that's how they operate.

No 3g or HSPA+ networks in the world offer anything like 10mbps. HSPA+ averages between 4-7 max, LTE technology can offer 10mbps+ speeds. If you youtube 3G speed tests from around the world, you will see most speeds between 3-4mbps. I've had 3G connections all over Europe with different carriers and I have never got more than 4mbps. Im actually very happy with Alfa's service. The speeds I get are comparable to T-mobiles HSPA+ network in germany and the states (4-5, sometimes even 6mbps ).
Are you serious LTE at 10Mbps+? Check your information, LTE is at least 50mbps.
sevag00 wroteAre you serious LTE at 10Mbps+? Check your information, LTE is at least 50mbps.
Watch youtube videos of real testing. Theoretically, LTE is 100mbps. however, most users get between 10-20mbps
can someone please tell me alfa's 3g settings for iphone 4 (apn) to use pay as you go
I have an iphone 3g and an Mtc line. Charged my 3g service two days ago and so far i can't get any 3g signal. I followed all the steps in the MTC website. Anyone had a similar problem?

did you restart your device?
Yes i did, more than once. Same result.
^ you mean you got no data signal whatsoever? Is it getting edge at least? If yes then your area is probably not covered by 3G yet. If you don't get anything at all it might be a bug, and you def should call them.

Something similar happened to me with mtc 3G: I subscribed for the 100 mb, finished it, got the 500 megs. 20 $ were deduced from my credit but it kept telling me that I finished my quota. Had to call and shout for three daysin a row till they fixed the bug and I got what I paid for !
Well i never had internet on my phone so never had the Edge icon before. Just recharged my phone with a prepaid card, send the 3g sms activation (100mb), and then waited. I'm supposed to get the 3g icon on my phone but getting nothing, and i live in tarik il jdideh where the coverage is 100% available.

I guess i'll have to call them, no other solution.
by the way, you must have data enabled, not only 3g. is it enabled?
