Cleaned up a few off topic posts. Guys, stick to discussing the iPad 2 and its specifications. This is not the topic to discuss why you think the iPad is useless or why the XOOM is better.
I heard in the radio today that they are exchanging the ipad 1 with the ipad 2, or you can get a refund. Not sure how true is that.
Does anyone know the answers to the following:

- Do I need to have it unlocked or jailbroken or anything to use 3G?
- does it support GPRS/edge
- does the cover/Case sell as a different item?
- Is there any speed difference between the models 16,32...

I'm just preparing for the future, if 3G gets released in lebanon.

Yes it needs to be unlocked, because you will need to insert a SIM Card.
This only applies if you purchased it from a country that locks it with the carrier, like USA.

It seems you can use iPad 3G in Lebanon since MTC touch released micro SIM for iPad and iPhone.
So, if you have a postpaid line, you can subscribe with GPRS and get a separate SIM for the iPad, its called internet SIM.
will we be able to use garageband and imovie on the ipad1? They will be available for the ipad2 on iOS 4.3. Hope iOS 4.3 will work on ipad1

So i presume I'll need to wait for factory unlocked or does just not matter?

That's awesome news!
is it possible to download offline maps to use with google maps on the ipad2, or will be the same as ipad1?
MrClass wroteis it possible to download offline maps to use with google maps on the ipad2, or will be the same as ipad1?
you can do every thing on the ipad 1 all the apps will work normally, ipad 1 can do ever thing ipad 1 does except for facetime and videos. offline maps is not supported natively on the os map app there might be an app to do that, google maps 5 got the ability to to sore maps offline since it uses vector maps instead of tiles but its only available on andoid
- does it support GPRS/edge
It seems that it reverts to EDGE when 3G is not available
According to this: GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) are supported.
- does the cover/Case sell as a different item?
Yes, the polyurethane smart cover costs $39 and the (fancy) dyed aniline leather version retails at $69.
- Is there any speed difference between the models 16,32...
Not that I know of, the difference is only the storage capacity.

does anyone know when the ipad 2 is coming to lebanon? I heard that they are having supply problems due to the fact that their battery plant is in Japan. Are we getting it to Lebanon? where will it sell here? is the apple store a reasonable place to buy it from or will it be overpriced there? how much will it cost?
Last time i checked on elmazad, they were selling it for 800$, but i think he's only taking orders now because he sold a lot.
