Has anyone noticed this new trend of stores putting lasers for show. We occasionally catch direct sight of the laser beams (which I try to avoid at all times). Has anyone really considered how damaging that is? Check the classifications here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laser_safety I recently checked one of those lasers and I think it was a class 3 B which happens to be damaging. What do you think?
Very annoying. I don't know if they do any damage, but they are definitely a distraction while driving past, which can be dangerous.

I feel the same about the new, huge billboard screens that are popping up in Achrafieh and DTB. At night they can be blinding when a white image shows on screen.

No consideration at all, no restrictions, no guidelines.

I was about to mention this.

The big bright billboard before Forum de Beyrouth is too blinding at night and its really annoying. Granted, I was impressed by the video quality on it and all, but I'd like to keep my eyes too.
ya seriously, Ad boards(both Digital and lighted-normal) have been on the Rise like crazy over the past couple of months, and also I notice the amount of shop owners putting those lasers for decor at night. They can both be distracting and kinda dangerous for Passing drivers. Unfortunately they're are no rules or guidelines to this type of things and sadly for the meantime we're gonna have to face it...and so will probably our eyes :P

hmm this thread reminds me of my 5mw laser pointer I used to have...40,000L.L.. until I lost it bout a year ago might not sound much But I impressed that It could reach the distance of my town and you could still see it :P

Actually you wouldn't want a direct laser beam on your retina no matter how weak the power.
If you see it, avoid it IMHO..

It's the land of annoying fireworks (for something as mundane as a kid passing his brevet), abusive billboards, horn-blowing maniacs, and now... dancing lasers :S
So, can we do something about it, or at least try? If this gets some focus from the media, it might help. Anyone has contacts with tv, newspapers, etc...?
