Bravo mr Barud

Bullshit!!!!!What's going on with you?!
mir
I am extremely against this.
When we have a chance to improve things in our country - even a tiny bit - you guys can't help but increase the level of your assholness and call yourselves "oversmarting the system"
You feel "smart" and "proud" of urself installing a phone app - wow ! injez - or buying some piece of hardware. bleh ! and yey now you become the road haxor that gets to overspeed - this is totally the opposite of how "geeks" should be, they are supposed to be the smart ones, not the msatil and irresponsibles !
The govt. can not put radars every single mile, so the strategy for this to work, is that people are not previously warned - if they are only like 20% of roads will be "safe".
Your time is not more precious than anyone's else, you don't have the privilege to over speed and the safety and life of everyone else on the road is not something you decide to "play" with or hack
It is not only about the speed only, it is about less stress also while driving and no more "betweenet".
There are tons of other "useful" projects you can do - so stop the "excuse" of "this is for science".
A word comes back to my mind : CRAZY GOATS !
belal

GOATS
Wow, Thank you. :)
Speaking of which, can someone suddenly quit smoking?
Edited: i agree with you, though...thanks to the government, driving became less stressful than ever!
Joe
Although I wouldn't use the same strong language, I completely agree with mir. Sure it would be a cool collaborative project to work on, but our projects shouldn't aim at destroying what the government is doing. For once they are actually doing something about the road states. It may not be perfect, it may not be the solution, but it won't be of any help if we destroy that.
"Geeks" are supposed to be the intellectual elite of the country (well them and the philosophers :P). We have been complaining for years about government lack of action, and as soon as they do, will we tear it down?
The real effectiveness of the radar system is that you don't know where it is, so you drive carefully and slowly at all time. The government has no means (it would be waaaay too expensive) to cover the whole territory. So mobile affected units that strike at different locations each time are the way to do so. If we start mapping them, we'll only have some safe roads and other still crazy.
Anyways, there's nothing I (or anyone else) can do to stop you. I'm the one who always supports the free sharing of information. Even to undesired extents. If this collaboration does happen, I will defend it and stand by it. However don't count on my participation, that's for sure.

I am among the first to promote speed cameras in Lebanon but for the sole purpose to decrease the accidents that kill or destroy a life(paralysie).
Meaning that when the police were using radars only in Down Town area to catch dudes who are doing 60km/s instead of 55km/h and treating them like the biggest criminals on earth it was total bulls*t,and only made to impress tourists.
Same when mr Baroud is not learning and is using the majority of the speed cameras inside Beirut in places where we would drive at 20 or 30 while your can can't even work under 40 unles you have small cars with max 90hp.
IF mr Baroud want to really stop the road killings he should put the majority of his radars on the ''autostrades'' and main mountains roads like the one Antelias-Bikfaya, and where the speed limits is 100 or 120 and not at the beginning of those roads where the speed should be 50 or 60...
Those radars are here to stop killers who are driving above 120km/h because they want to impress their friends or gf, I am pretty sure that 99% of accidents in Lebanon where people got killed was because of very high speed.
But if the purpose of those radars is to make people pay tickets because they drove 60km/h instead of 50 on a fast road even in Beirut, it's the biggest joke ever
Aslan do you know that a happy neyeb decided yesterday that anyone who is using antiradar applications on their mobile phones will pay chi 1 million LL ??
Joe
Vegetaleb: your rant is off topic. Please let's not talk about our feelings on the radar, but the initiative to map them.

It's working fine with
arabic numerals over here.
warning: potential play on words.

I don't know if it's a speed camera but in the ''nazlet'' Hotel Dieu just after the army post there are about 3 cameras on a light ''a3moud'' one of them is certainly a surveillance camera (round black shape) but I am not sure for the 2 others, there is a sort of red stuff inside.Could be surveillance (deputy or minister?) or a combo of surveillance and speed cameras.
If anyone could check them because I am not a pro in this field

I hope that anyone who thinks he's being smart by outsmarting the system just to save 1min or just to look cool or whatever gets a relative/friend of his killed by someone speeding, or killing somone himself on the road and having to live with this on his concious.
Thank you kiddies.
bskaram
Here are the fixed ones. Although it's not as fun as mapping them.

Anyone knows a plate number that went over the speed limit?
I'd like to see how it looks on the ISF website.

You can try that by yourself :P
I guess you're not curious enough to know how does it feel when you're driving at 250 KM/H...
Ayman
Guys here is the latest joke about the subject, في ختيارة قطعت ال100...لقطها الرادار :P

The vans that go from saida to beirut know exactly where each radar is already. They got a list from sayyar il darak somewhere. It's a nice alternative to the big and slow Zantout ride that doesn't overstep 80, though a bit too more dangerous.
So cool off buddies, the positions have already been disclosed and in the hands of anyone asking for them (just go to them van guys, they're nice enough).

is it really worth the trouble and risk ?
to keep checking ur mobile phone app - get list of places - and there is also moving points all the time.
when u overspeed, you go up from 100 to 120-130 on highway - and it is in small limited sections, not all the road - how much difference is it ? 10 mins/meshwar ? worth the risk, accidents and possible fine ?

Regarding what you mentioned mir about the time difference between driving at 100KM/h and 130KM/h. You are absolutely right ! Higher speed means more use of breaks/more traffic to trespass/more stress and more danger to you and other drivers.
A 5 mins difference ain't worth it at all :)

5 mins ????? i wish thats correct ,
Lets say i have at 8 am a class to attend , before i was able to leave my house at 7:30 am and speeding easily from 120 to 170 (@morning) i would be exactly at 7:55 am waiting my doctor to arrive :P
NOWWWWWW i have to go out from my house @ 6:50 am to arrive between 7:50 and 7:55 because sometimes i speed up 105 :( , yes these numbers are precised because this is my daily road so i need to know the exact time to arrive :(
I will try to make a small video later on when i have free time untill i know the exact locations of the cameras Grrrrrr

four pages of threads on this subject and you guys proved nothing more than how eclectic most of you can be.
you went way of track on being subjective than objective.
almost all of you showed talent on flaming each other and being subjective and proved how fruitless you can be.
the aim was to put peoples collaborative and talent to the test. and as we can see so far, nothing! absolutely nothing has been achieved, no collaborative efforts established and no effort on putting ones own talent to the test.
I await the day as to when you be more productive and achieve something geeky!
