I agree with Battikh point of view regarding the video call concept!
lol battikh point of view for using video calls well i disagree , video calls are important for many many things maybe your doing a presentation in your class and you want your friend ,family to watch it what would you do use skype ? i dont think so
Actually there is always a efficiency issue in telecom so the use of video calls is not generally efficient in any manner (no real benefits) and in case video call is available then fair bandwidth internet is available and there are many sites offering video calls for countries which do not support it(so the problem is solved)
and for battikh issue i think he is showing as a fact not an opinion
and if the other side you want to communicate with doesn't have any internet connection what would you do ?
Alfa is working on providing HSPA ( HSDPA/HSUPA ) by the end of the year. Crossed fingers.

if i want my family to watch the presentation, either i invite them to it, or i film it and then show them the movie, coz on a cellphone screen, they'll just wont see much... and phones not having zooms, the guy filming my presentation will have lots of fun, and people actually watching the presentation will enjoy having a guy standing in their view holding a cellphone...

and yeah, i'd use skype. between having a guy pointing a phone 10cm away from me and blocking the view for everyone, and simply having a laptop and webcam with better resolution, yeah, i'd go for skype.
hehe i don't know when this conversation will end but i know every person have their own opinion/mind and im saying If someday you encountered something doesn't need to be filmed for something that's not very important but someone asked you that he wanna see the clip live is better than seeing something after a while and you don't need to block someone view plus the picture quality will be described on what phone your using
id go for skype if i have internet connection and the other one have too and that's poorly available in lebanon

Could you please clarify this point? what is HSPA? and what are its benefits!?!
but the other one helped you by pointing you to wikipedia you can try that too
summary: hspa is between 3g and 4g

thats right, but i wanted to know more about it since the guy seemed to know some info related to Alfa, and am an Alfa subscriber and interested to know anything related to telecom :)

It's like they will increase the channel capacity so you can get download speed around 10-15mbps ( the phone should be able to support ). I dnt know what's the point since we dont have that good internet speed in the country but the latency will significantly be reduced as well which can be noted as an mprovement overall. This upgrade will take time and I doubt it's gonna be finished by the end of the year but who knows, yemkin ma ydal min ykhabir lal new year....

to be honest I am not even allowed to talk about such things but I can tell you that MTC in Beirut in term of coverage is better, at least for me. Alfa used to struggle with that and tried to work on it. It all depends on where you live. I find internet service on Alfa much better than MTC. Customer service? both suck... Actually any customer service worldwide sucks. They help you with everything except technical problems....

Thank you man! if you were to advise someone between Alfa and Mtc ? what would be ur advise and why?
Dude I really can't tell, as I said it depends on where you live and what you are planning to get as services. MTC now offers credit transfer up tp 8 times a month to any magic number. MTC now has upgraded their equipments to handle 1.5M subscribers but tell you what, in the end, they both has unstable network coverage, random disconnection and crap internet at peak time.
;) hmm we need an alfa defender :D
Aj_BlaZ wrote;) hmm we need an alfa defender :D
maybe someone from Alfa's admin should be here to tell u more about their situation :P
battikh wrote3G is not just for internet. You can have "new" kind of services like videocalls (withing lebanon) and TV without the need to go to the internet.
i'm sure that having access to news tv channels (arabia, jazeera, ...) and sports tv channels (specially during world cup, f1 season, champions league, ...) directly from your cellphone would work quiet well in lebanon.
Yes, this is true, create a local network... but for all smartphones are interesting with internet access.. so if you limit this access its not interesting anymore.. iphone/hda2/android phone anything I have here in france, is a useless brick in leb coz I can only use it to call and receive calls, and for that I just need a simple small nokia that goes unnoticed in the pocket. You see at where I'm getting :)
you forgot the ipod , internet on the go hotspots , apps , games , reading stuff it could be useful ;)

not really, coz you could have simply subscribed for edge :p
when i come to leb with my phone, i don't feel much difference...
