Just for you nuclearcat:
Topic: "internet in Lebanon-questions"

On another topic, I know that Ogero provides some of its backbone to other DSL ISPs while keeping the lion's share to itself (Hence Ogero's best latency).
But VISP gets bandwidth from satellites instead of Ogero, so I think that (And I hope I'm wrong), VISP will need much more time to implement new sources and backbones...Much more than a month.
hussam
Didn't VISP get bandwidth from Ogero before even if not directly?
But I'm interested in knowing that too. Seems DSL providers will start getting the new backbone as of October 1.
FuSe
meh... Ogero 512:
guys when's the new speed and price are going to start?
ZuZ
Meh, pppoe is not connecting

I hope VISP issues get fixed by october ... they should

I've noticed that my download transfer rate is more stable now, I'm on 512 Ogero, and currently downloading, it used to be unstable between 45-50-55 kb/s now it's stable 50-51kb/s most of the time.

And it was sudden. no gradual degrade. >.>

An important question: The ministry decision taken about reducing prices, has it been printed in the official Gazette? Cuz if not, I know exactly who's responsible for this.
invalid-user-43
any news about latencies ?
nuclearcat
---()--()--- - directly related to IMEWE. No IMEWE, no low latency. I have some backup plan for September-October for worst case, but no guarantee it will work.

The equipment are not ready and it has to be shipped to Lebanon.

Equipment for IMEWE or backup plan?
nuclearcat
Backup plan. It will let me win tens of % from existing capacity. It will be enough to make some direct low latency bandwidth for users.
Right now bandwidth i have useless, also seems our competitors doing their best to make us problems.
We got today 3 DDoS attacks, especially targeting VISP, but till now handling them fine.

Seriously ? That's really LOW competition... Don't ISPs have anything better to do than flooding each others servers ??

Happen very often. We had one reseller considering to leave or not, and then suddently start to have attacks to his network. I move him to few ip's, and it become difficult to track him down, they start attacking unused ip's at VISP.
Then i become angry and wrote system that are doing all block/unblock/ip change automatic, and was having fun, when some idiot trying to attack few ip's at 0am, at 7pm, and then few attemps at 3am. Just how it was done, i can say for sure someone was online and he was asking someone working over this reseller if internet still working, because i shutdown once interface for reseller for test, and they stopped attacks almost instantly at that moment.
Few times i track down such rats in the networks, but seems they never learn a lesson.
