Well dudes, hate to bust your bubbles, but are you sure KIS is doing its job fully? A couple of weeks ago, we got a call from an internet cafe owner, asking for assistance in maintaining his PCs. They had Kaspersky. Every single one of them had the memory infected. One of them had around 150 viruses in the memory alone. Every security software lacks something. Kaspersky has one of the weakest abilities to disinfect (deletes 99% of the files, even Windows crucial files), and bypasses smart files running on startup and infecting the memory. As much as I hate to admit this, Norton is better (and still Norton SUCKS big time). Our personal favorite is by far, Panda. No compromising. It's not perfect, but it's the best. Upsides, extremely fast in action, user friendly, and hyper-speed scanning. Downsides, consumes way too many resources. If your system is tough enough, it will run smoothly. If not, it will beat the living daylights out of it, as starting up alone would take ages. We don't personally object to any security software, and we install whatever software our clients ask us to. However, if we're asked to work according to our beliefs, we go for Panda all the time. If you check America's ratings for security bundles, they go as this:
01- Bit Defender
02- McAfee
03- Norton
04- CA
05- F-Secure
06- PC-Cillin
07- Panda
08- Norman
09- Zone Alarm
10- Kaspersky

Our Panda goes at number 7 (which means it sucks), and Kasersky at the bottom (which means it sucks too). This is the US rating. In Europe:
01- The Shield Deluxe
02- CA
03- Bit Defender
04- Norton
05- Kaspersky
06- NOD 32
07- Panda
08- McAfee
09- PC-Cillin

Panda is always at 7, ha. Anyway, we recommend Panda, as we have tested practically most of those ourselves. Even with all your PC ports open, Panda would still defend you system and kick out intruders, as well as point their IP and computer name and location. But at the end, people would always use what makes them feel good about themselves. They would stick to certain software, even if those software are the main cause of their problems. Bottomline, it's YOUR CALL.
usually i have avg and kaspersky installed
and not started
i don't run an antivirus or anitspyware while working

once in a while
i update it
and do some scanning
or when i feel something is terribly wrong

there is nothing as the best or perfect security thing
there is common sense as number 1

nice article.. somehow related to what i was tryin to say

and TigerHearts..
do u mind giving some names in the tigerheart team ? or even nicks to see if there is somebody i know :P ?
150 viruses that nothing
i received a pc in the shop with 627 viruses at first scan the second pass found 129 third pass was clean
i consider this my personal record
and get this once a guy came to the shop looking for a laptop ans he wanted me to guarantee the laptop against viruses
in my line of work i can't help thinking that people are dumb
virus protection begins with the user do not open untrusted hardware internet pages or e-mail it is as simple as that
I second what Karim said, I ran my personal laptop without an antivirus for 1 month (i usually use kaspersky). Now when I installed Kaspersky 7 yesterday, I performed a full system scan and I found no virusus/threats at all.
It all depends on the user, not the software.
What I like about kapersky is that I can set lot of rules for every single application, I don't know about panda...
i wanna give panda a try

Panda Internet Security 2008 :D

i think it is good in my case, as i don't load it all the time
and when i do.. i will only be scanning while listening to music or doing something

by the way, i tried the online scanner.. can't work in firefox or in opera

can you guys pm me a *cough* activ *cough* vation key
AVG's been doing the job for me.. 1 year and a half, no viruses, and yes.. no windows format :D
