very interesting

slightly painful to use over a lebanese connection
Maybe in the future your processor will not be anymore on your desktop, but you will be only using a thin client, and all the processing and storage will be happening at a remote location. In other words you will not be using a computer anymore, you will only be using a terminal, and you will be subscribing to the services of some mainframe provider, which will provide you with processing power and storage space.
This model has many advantages, such as better resource utilisation, no need to upgrade and buy expensive computers... but the main disadvantage is that it requires a very fast network, probably something such as 1000 mbps, to run games, movies, etc... at their optimal quality... it is not something we will see in the near future, but it is a certainity that such speeds will be available one day, and maybe not so far.
So do you think that we will see computing changing to a mainframe model?
It's a nice concept. But the " OS " part is kind of misleading:
an operating system (OS) is the system software responsible for the direct control and management of hardware and basic system operations. Additionally, it provides a foundation upon which to run application software such as word processing programs and web browsers.
EyeOS only covers the second part of what an operating system really is.
you meen, get BACK to the mainframe model. well i dont think so. we moved out of it, and i can't see why we should get back to it. it's resource exhaustive and has many problems.
i was trying it today, pretty cool. downloaded it bu not working on my hosting but working well on my local machine.

and check eyeapps.org for more applications...
i read about this a lonnnnnng lonnnnnnng time ago
yes, but the 1.0 was released yesterday :)
Yup, this was only posted before the 1.0 release.
