Word has it. I have finally moved to
Ubuntu Linux! (debian-based distro) I'm now dual-booting it with winXP (that I left for gaming and stuff).
First impressions:
I - Install:
I like the concept of their installer, since it's a liveCD that you can use to surf the net and use the provided applications while installing the operating system. It did not take too much time to install (note: i have a fast CPU (3.6GHz) and good RAM(1gig))
II - Configuration
The configuration is pretty straight forward, I used the GUI since i'm new to linux, though i'm willing to work with the terminal as I get more familiar with the system.
III - Internet
the PPPOE was a bit of a pain in the a## to configure, but I managed to do it in an acceptable time-frame (i.e., 3 days - :P hehe, joking) - I had to download the latest rp-pppoe from roaring penguin, and compile it (after installing GCC from the liveCD).
IV - Support
great support via forums and IRC, nice and friendly community.

My hopes are high now that I've finally made the move, though i need some time to get used to some of the applications (and the way of doing the day-to-day tasks) but I think it was worth it, long-live free software!
