djunited wroteThe sony a1 oled will be on display at abed tahan in 2 days! Im afraid to go check it out and have to pay 1.5k difference lol. Worth it over the x930?
I saw it in SonyWorld hamra, it blew my mind.
But it was very expensive, more expensive than the LG OLED (B7 which i was aiming for, and even C7 i think).
So i planned to get the B7 instead, but that didn't work out either, so i got meself a projector.

Finally what dis you look for qhen they turned on your tv to inspect?
You'll need an ONT (Optical Network Terminal) if you have a fiber cable going into your home. All your existing network infrastructure can stay the same if your wired Ethernet backbone and wireless setup handle the speed you get from fiber. No DSL or any phone line is involved.

Regular ethernet wires support 100mb/s right? Should be able to handle 50mb/s. Sorry i habe the electrician coming and i want to make sure im installing futureproof lines.
Depends on what sort of wiring you have. Check if it's CAT5, CAT6, etc...

Note that 50mbps is the lower bound of the speed. You might / should get higher on average.

Don't get an electrician to install Ethernet cables. That's a big no-no, unless that electrician is aware of cable types, shielding, etc... and knows not to install those cables as if they are power cables without worrying about interference.

The a1 will be priced at 4.5k got him down to 4.3k

I saw the c6 at khoury home for 4.1k if im not mistaken so id say the a1 is well priced.

If the electrician is installing cat 5 or cat6 then should i be worried about interference? All my ethernet lines run parallel to electric wires. The modem is even located inside the electricity box. Who should i get to test if theres any interference? Should i just call ogero for a big check up?

I'm assuming you're talking about the 65' versions of every TV you mentioned right?
C6 is 2016 model, i wouldn't pay that much money on it! You should look at the C7 models.

Another thing to note about OLEDs and that you should be aware of, is Burn in. Neither Abed Tahan nor Khoury home guarantee your OLED TV against image Burn ins. Since you will be gaming on it, you definitely need to take this into serious consideration.
LG however, does guarantee your TV from Burn ins for a period of one year, if you buy it from them (Dora showroom , in front of CityMall, give them a visit if you can, and be clear about the Burn in guarantee).

Have you given any thoughts about projectors??

Your ethernet modem / router supports that a "theoratical speed" but you need to test your dsl line of it handles that. Usually if you are less than 1 km away from Ogero DSL the dal line will suppoert up to 23Mbps , you need to call Ogero and ask them to do a test to know how much your ADSL line can handle.

If you are < 500m you can switch to VDSL you need a compatible modem / rourter for that a request to Ogero , VDSL works on you existing ADSL line but ogero need to handle your request and special modem configuration. VDSL is now exclusive to Ogero , up to 40 Mbps.

For FTTH send an email to Thepeople@ogero.gov.lb for make for you a feasibility study if they can pass for you fiber , I guess in Shouf zone they didnot yet implement FTTC cabinets. Ogero Phase , which they started , is to put FTTC cabinets each 800m. Currently : Rass Beirut , Hamra Ashrafieh and Beirut Souks to Zaytouna bay are eligible.

Despite of the TV Brand - Oled inherit technology serious problems are image retentions and burn ins - along with sub 1000 nits of real scene HDR peak brightness.

Despite their real blacks and infinite contrast retention and burns -in risk can happen during the tv life cycle and it can be catastrophic. I

A good high end led tv , you can tolorate none native blacks and blooming with VA panels / good local dimmings / high hdr real scene peak brightness / very good blacks and contrast you will frankly statisfied without any risks.

Check Rtings.com reviews on all Oled TVs " Regradless of the Brand" even 2018 like the LG C8 and Sony AF8 and go to the sections of Image retention / image burning and you will witness what I am saying above with technical testing

Well I will go with the X930e for the Following Reasons:

Awesome HDR Peak Brightness
No Retention / Screen Burning Problems Like the OLEDs ( Even in LGs 2017 Models these problem persists ) It is an OLED Draw Back.
Great Local Dimming with Sony Slim BackLight+

Overall it is a great tv set and well arounded in every area from. Local Dimming , HDR Performance , Build Quality , Motion Handling, Contrast and Brightness and most importatly no inherit risks.

Micro Led will be the near future and better replacement of current Led and sure will eliminate the risks of OLEDs. Since it mixes the benefits of LEDs and OLEDs , sub pixels can be off - real blacks and infinite in micro leds too.

By the way Sony is a was , is , and will be a pioneer in AVs.

Sony will always be the leader in AV.

http://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/sony-crystal-led-tv-first-look

In 2012 Sony demonstrated the first micro-LED TV (55", Full-HD) which they termed Crystal-LED. Sony's Crystal-LED never reached the market, but in 2016 the company unveiled its large-area outdoor micro-LED displays which Sony calls Canvas Display

Sony pushed the quantum dot technology in 2013 ( Triluminos Display) , that Samsung Adopted in their high end tvs in 2016 (KS and Now Qled) and New Samsung HG90 , HG 70 , FG 70 ) along with LGs Highend Nano Crystal TVs like the SJ 8500 Nanocell , and upcoming gaming monitors from asus like the pg 35 vq and pg 27.

I just checked the cables. Theyre a bunch of cat 5 and cat5e cables but they are very close to power limes as theyre in the same elwctricity cabinet. I beleive i have packet loss and i want to make sure there is no interference before i get fiber or vdsl. The electrician is coming tomorrow and i need to kmow if he sjould relocate the modem from the box and all the cables. How can i test for any imterference?
a month later
saw the a1e oled at abed tahan and i wish i didnt. trying to see if it would be a significant upgrade in terms of picture quality from the oled. i just loved the blacks and the contrast. im also more of a night time movie viewer so room will be mostly dark and i find the brightness from the 930 would be too much. so i can get the a1e for 4200$ while im currently paying 3650$ for a sony x930e + sony bvd n9200. the aound from the A1E is really good so i guess i can do without the home theatre for now if i decide to go with the a1e. what do you think? if budget was no concern, would you choose the a1e over an x930e + home theatre?
Didn't you buy the x930e already?

And as I've said before, if you are responsible and the sole user of the tv go for it, but if everyone in the house will use it, they might not be so responsible, and you might end up with image retention or worse images burn ins.
Abed tahan warranty does not cover that.

I did but i can still change its still on the tab so far until its delivered before i move in. I would be the sole owner yes. I guess i should research those issues a bit more before deciding and how often they occur, ways to avoid them etc... One of the sales people mentioned something about pixel refresh to avoind burn in?

Well I own an OLED C6 since it got released. The tv is on most of the time. I'm also using it as monitor. Rest assure that I have no burn in pixels. On the other hand you might face some image retention (PC mode) :).

Be aware that the demo movies always concentrate on black backgrounds ( key force of OLED) Try to play a normal movie before choosing such tech. Unlike what people think OLED is for bright rooms. Not dark ones.
The only thing I hate is the jitter. I like soap effect which is not possible on an OLED.

Good to know regarding burn in however i also noticed jitter on the a 1e with a demo of some city at night. Is there no motion handling on oleds? Do they jitter no matter what content youre playing?

The imperfection of LED tech made it less noticed and more user friendly,

Forgot to mention that for sure there is a motion handling mechanism but that is not enough. of course a 60 hz movie is way more better.
Do you know if we can use a SSD in an enclosure USB 3.0 directly to the X9000e?
I want to get a WD Blue SSD with Transcend enclosure
Anybody knows where I can find the x940E ? I need a 75" Tv and I've heard nothing but good reviews.
Kareem wroteAnybody knows where I can find the x940E ? I need a 75" Tv and I've heard nothing but good reviews.
75" x940e?!
If it even exists on Lebanon, prepare to spend 10k$ on it.

My suggestion is get a 4k projector.

The price of the TV in UAE is $4400 USD

I can buy it and ship it for like $800 USD but I prefer having a warranty. It's a 18 month old TV anyway and TBH it's much cheaper than the A1 or Z9

If you have the en-closer why don't you try it yourself by going to the show room? I can confirm that it is working on my LG but that would irrelevant info.
