Scratch that.LifeEngineer wroteInteresting.AVOlio wroteSo after a first day use, here's what I can say about the TCL C2US.
Overall the TV looks great, it's appealing with its silver bezels and attractions the attention as if it was a high end TV.
The picture quality is also great! Very great for its price.
Playing 4K content on YouTube, the picture is breathtaking.
However, for some reason, the TV skips frames so BADLY when playing 4k content @60Hz that it's totally unwatchable. I don't know why that would be, maybe refresh rate issue?
I didn't get HDR to work, and I don't see any HDR option in the menu! While playing 4k HDR videos on YouTube, I don't get the HDR next to the video title which says that the video is currently playing in HDR. I only get the 4k icon.
Perhaps it's a gimmick? The TV doesn't have HDR?
I haven't tried Netflix yet to see if HDR works, I don't have a Netflix, maybe someonen can share their account so that I can test it!? It would be appreciated.
Android os is great! Most of the times it's smooth but the TV froze a few times and restarted. But I guess even on Sony TVs I've heard people saying the same.
Google play store is there, but it's not full, you won't find a the apps you normally find on phones.
But you can install apks off of a flash drive or something, make sure you download a file explorer like ES in order to view the apks on the drive.
I installed Terrarium, and there you go, free Netflix like experience.
So I guess, my final review will be, if you're looking for a budget tv with a GREAT picture quality, this will do, but if you want to have a TV with better screen specifications like refresh rate etc.. Better go with a Sony.
I think it won't be great for gaming then if it's the case! That's concerning.
I tested the TV again with 4k 60fps.
On YouTube, its the same frame skipping / stuttering to the point that the picture freezes but the audio continues.
So i thought it would be an Internet issue.
I downloaded the 4k 60fps video onto a USB and tried playing it from the USB.
The experience improved a bit, but there were still moments where the picture would freeze and audio goes on.
I copied the video from the USB into the internal storage of the TV.
Tried playing it, and the 4k 60fps video played perfectly.
I'm guessing it's OS related?
What do you guys think?
