Here's a question, did you overclock anything? Or modify the frequency of the RAM in the BIOS to anything?Nemesis-301 wroteboth are good:

I also suggest running the PC in Safe Mode and see if it does the same thing. Start narrowing down the issue.

Yup updating the drivers could probably fix the problem, usually the best source for drivers is getting them from the manufactures website since using windows update isnt the best choice. Are you sure that you did a stress test and checked the cpu clock speed...... however i think this could still be a software problem.....
