You're assuming he thinks before replying. I wouldn't bother if I were you.

Some people tend to forget that Samsung is the leading Android vendor and has been for the past 5 years. Some people tend to forget that not everyone is an Android geek who wants Stock Android and no bloatware. Some people tend to forget that the largest number of Android users are the ones who just want a phone to use and don't know the difference between TW and Stock. Some people tend to forget that micro-stuttering isn't something most people can notice.

Samsung plays it smart. I wouldn't buy their phones whatsoever but that doesn't mean they're bad.

As for the 10, I hope this gives HTC the boost they need. Would suck to lose them and have Samsung get an even bigger market share.

100%
I always say that we, geeks, are a very minority! Probably less than 5%!

We may never get apple because we know how basic the OS is and how overpriced the phones are.
We may never get samsung, LG, xiaomi etc... coz their android skins are so heavy and they are slow at updates.
We may...we may...

But companies barely notice our existence... Most users don't even know what is an android update or what version they have. All they want is a phone that works and has some nice features! And that's why samsung leads! Coz they knew what people want!

no one can argue with that. Samsung have been and will always be the best in marketing, plus they offers features maybe we don't need them but normal people are thrilled about. Every one knows even normal people that samsung lags alot and most of samsung devices wont survive for a year but people seems not having problems with changing their phone every year or year and a half max as long as they gets all those features that samsung offers and there's where their marketing strength is convincing people that those features are more important than the quality plus the diversity of samsung devices and they're low price and highly availability. No one can deny samsung dominance in android market but that doesn't mean they're phones aren't shit.
To be honest I see more and more people distancing themselves from Samsung. I even know a few faithful Note users who really pulled the plug after the Note5 fiasco (no memory card and it wasn't available in 64GB in all countries including this one!). But it's true that there's a looooot of people who buy Samsung phones still. I guess I get it, they are super consistant. They almost never come out with a flop, which is hard to say about other companies, except Apple. They might not be the best alternative (sometimes they are though) but at least you know it's a quality product that won't disappoint. Try buying an LG G3 or HTC M9 and see if that holds true!
So htc's new flagship launched today, featuring what they're calling "Hi-Res" audio, as certified by the Japan Audio Society.

Check out the audio page http://www.htc.com/us/smartphones/htc-10-audio/

htc's new htc 10 is certified by the Japan Audio Society

They're boasting "Boomsound Hi-fi Edition" dual speakers, and hi-res audio certified earbuds along with some kind of app that can "measure your hearing" and provide a custom EQ.

Further, they've included a 24-bit DAC that'll up-convert 16-bit (although no mention of which DAC it is specifically) and a "high peformance headset amplifier".
I think that most people in Lebanon buy Samsung phones just because it is the most widespread brand and is cheaper than iphone, and not because it is waterproof or has the best camera or is the richest in software features etc. I bet that 75% of people have no clue about all those details and thus dont make an informed buying decision.

On the personal level, I am far from being a geek but I do research phones before buying. I dont really care which has a better screen or camera or sound or which lags a little less etc... Regarding those parameters, all flagships are more or less the same and the differences between them are minor and negligible in my views.

The 3 parameters that I care about the most are:
1- Look, design, size : HTC , Sony and Nexus are the best in that, Samsung the worst IMHO.
2- Battery: Sony usually do great in this field. HTC and Nexus are the weakest.
3- USEFUL features: I mean those features that make the use of the phone easier, faster and more convenient. Samsung and LG are the best in that, Sony and Nexus the weakest. I know that I can obtain most of these features by downloading special apps from the playstore but I prefer when they are integrated and optimized in the original software to keep the phone as light as possible. Examples:
A- Access to clipboard: to be able to copy/paste multiple items at once without switching back and forth between various pages.
B-A dedicated 5th row for digits on the keyboard
C-Quick memo: to easily take screenshots and annotate them without the need for a pen
D-Silent camera shutter
E-Tap to wake and tap to sleep

Based on these 3 criterias, I picked the LG G2 in 2013 because it was ergonomic and excelled in battery life and useful software tricks. I am still using it untill now and happy with it. If the HTC 10 or HTC 10 mini convince me in regard to the second and third criterias, I will seriously consider them.
The camera is really good. But apparently the S7 still focuses faster than the 10 according to preliminary comparisons. I think I will pick up the 10 eventually. It seems like the latest Sense UI is very close to stock Android now, which I'm a fan of.

This is actually the first HTC that caught my attention in a while. I really missed HTC and would like to give it a try. Yet I think it will be ridiculously priced!
the slow autofocus is due to the lack of PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus). Galaxy S6/S7, Xperia Z5, iPhone 6/6s and some other OEMs offer it on some high end models.
PDAF is sometimes marketed as Focus Pixels for the iphone 6/6s, and Dual Pixel on the S7.

HTC 10 uses Sony's IMX377 a 1/2.3 type BSI CMOS, it was originally meant for Camcorders, but have been adopted for smartphone use.

the sensor is great, but not the best. If HTC wants to really compete for the best smartphone camera they need their own Custom Designed Sensor like what Apple, Samsung, Huawei.. are using.

Off the shelve components will only make HTC just another smartphone, with the only differentiating factor is their UX.

Custom made is the only nowadays.

Yep, it's Amhaz vs Gomobile.
I bet it will be between 700 and 800$ the very first week, then drop to 650$ 2nd week, 3rd week 620ish, 4th and 5th weeks 590$, 6th week 550$...
So I will keep my A9 till perhaps mid June when it will be under 550$.
The S7 is still over 550$ even at Amhaz because there are no competition right now, they still don't have the G5 and the 10 won't be here before mid May
HTC prices in Lebanon usually go down faster than Samsung, mainly due to the lower demand of HTC. I think 550-600 is a fair price for the 10.

Not really, the last 2 years when both smartphones were out at the same time the samsung price went down faster

Agreed with vegetaleb! Usually HTC keep their prices much higher! Only exception was M9 because it was a complete flop!
Well you guys (especially vegeta lol) probably know more about HTC than me at this point. The last one I bought was the M8. I hope the price wont be high for too long this time around

It looks like it is good but overrated compared to the hype HTC created around it when it described it as the best phone camera ever,

The cameras of the latest nokia, S7, G5, nexus 6P and xperia z5 seem better according to preliminary comparisons.
By the way, I read on the net a review written by an iphone user and it looks like the phone is really good overall.
