You can always get a nice cheap GPU if you don't already have one that you're not using, a hard drive and a PSU and install SteamOS on it. Just put the old stuff in this machine whenever you upgrade your main rig.vegetaleb wroteOk decided to update my system to 4460, now who's gonna buy my i5 750 system?
i5 CPU in Lebanon
Nah I need the money from the sale ;)

Any news about incoming Skylake cpus?
You guys think it will be out in pcandparts by Christmas or later?
I have been too lazy to really try to sell my actual cpu-mobo-ram :/

They're expected at IDF 2015 in August, and are expected to roll out in September or October.
And knowing we get them 3 months later then it will be by Christmas
Though no idea if the K version or ''entry level'' ones will be available first?

The entry-level will be available in Q2 2015 but for unlocked chips you'll have to wait until Q3 or Q4.
Ohh!Die_Kapitan wroteThe entry-level will be available in Q2 2015 but for unlocked chips you'll have to wait until Q3 or Q4.
Another year!
It's time to take a an i5 4460 then
It's only half a year.
Oh my bad I thought 2016, but doubt we will see anything before Q3 in US and end Q4 in Lebanon
i don't expect unlocked skylake K in lebanon before 2016. PC components are always 2-3 months late and released at higher prices at first due to the lack of official distributors.
I think it'll be here in November or December.

Any words when the i5 skylake would come here?
It looks like we will have 6600k but no words on 200ish $ version

PCandparts has already some Skylake mobos, though overpriced as the CPU itself is not here yet.But if they have these mobos it means the i5 6600k is not far :)
The i5 6400 and 6500 are not yet out in the US, most probably by the end of this month, so we could bet to see the 6600 by the end of October (unless they finished the old i5 stock and bring skylake sooner), and the 6400-6500 by the end of November.
The actual mobos are overpriced because not all models are here and specially the CPUs but I think in December their prices will drop by 30-50$ as broader range of MSI and Asus will be here

If you want to get an i5 6600K, get it from r/buildapcproxy, they can get it to you from Microcenter, and since shipping a CPU doesn't cost much, you'll be able to get it for less than what you'll pay for it here, that said, CPU prices here are pretty reasonable, it's video card, case, PSU and mobo prices that's inflated, that said, Z170 are actually pretty well priced compared to the US considering that something like the ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming cost like $189 here and like $167 in the US, I'd pay $22 more for the board instead of getting it for $22 cheaper and paying more than $22 for shipping.vegetaleb wrotePCandparts has already some Skylake mobos, though overpriced as the CPU itself is not here yet.But if they have these mobos it means the i5 6600k is not far :)

CPU at least at pcandparts have logic prices, very close to US prices, it's the motherboards that are expensive here
It's probably because of how light CPUs are which translates into less shipping costs.vegetaleb wroteCPU at least at pcandparts have logic prices, very close to US prices, it's the motherboards that are expensive here
you may want to save your money and go with haswell, skylake improvements over haswell are minimal to non in terms of performance.
and if you are running any modern CPU, there is no need to upgrade to begin with. Keep an eye on Zen

Zen will be at most a Skylake sidegrade, mand I'm being optimistic as hell, it'll most likely be a Haswell sidegrade that uses DDR4. Personally, I'm getting Skylake for a simple reason, I want to be able to CrossFire and still have the ability to use a PCIe SSD, I know some Z97 chips have PLX chips, but no way I'm paying more than like $250 on a mobo.haidcar wroteyou may want to save your money and go with haswell, skylake improvements over haswell are minimal to non in terms of performance.

I have waited too long to change my CPU (i5 750) , I want the Skylake because of DDR4 support and future proof.
It will be my Christmas gift, by then it will cost as much as the haswell :)
DDR4 costs has greatly dropped, and in December the prices of motherboards for skylake will settle down to be like the ones of haswell too

Skylake i5 6400 and 6500 are out in the US :)
Though 6500 is slightly more expensive than expected, it's 205$ but here it would be 220$ + TVA
6400 also is more expensive than older i5 of same range of about 15$
Performance in games will be better than older i5
Seeing history of CPU release date in Lebanon all these i5 will not be here before December
