The i5 4670K isn't good, get the 4690K instead, it runs cooler.vegetaleb wroteSo as I stated before an i5 4670k would be perfect price/performance/oc
i5 CPU in Lebanon
The 4690K is better yes. But that doesn't make the 4670K bad. It just makes the 4960K a better option.

Geez only the 4690k is i5 K in Lebanon, what the heck is happening in our country?
So you want to OC your CPU? pay 100$ more.
Why no 4460K for exemple?
I was thinking to get a good i5 but not the most expensive one with a H97 instead of Z97 mobo as I will upgrade to Skylake 2nd generation in 2 years, but no K i5 but the 4690 :(

You want to get something like a 2500K or a 3570K ?vegetaleb wroteGeez only the 4690k is i5 K in Lebanon, what the heck is happening in our country?

There's no 4460K because it would undercut sales of the 4690K, why would I buy something that runs 0.3 GHz quicker but is more expensive if I can buy a cheaper processor and overclock it to similar levels.

The i5-4460 is currently the best i5 available here, and offers great perf/$ combine that with a h97 and you will have the perfect match. And its available at PCandParts
Here's what I am thinking as I already have an MSI Gaming GTX970;
Choice 1:
-Wait till Skylake is out meaning not before Christmas period because Lebanon get CPUs 3 months later.
Cost of entry level i5 skylake should be 200$ + 8GB RAM DDR4 120$ (should be around that price by end of 2015) + a good OC mobo 150-170$, TOTAL: 470 to 490$ + TVA
Subtracts 150$ for my actual i5+RAM+mobo resale. So 330-340$ to pay in full
Choice 1 would last 4 years with me.
Choice 2:
-Take now an i5 4460 (190$) + 8GB RAM DDR3 Hyperx (75$) + Asus H97 (122$)
Total: 387$ + TVA
Subtracts 190$ for my actual i5+RAM+mobo resale. So 200$ to pay in full
-Then in 2 years switch to i5 Skylake 2nd Generation (190-200$) + 16GB DDR4 120$ + MSI or Asus Gaming Mobo (160$)
Total 480-490$
Subtracts 220$ for the previous bought i5+RAM+mobo resale. So 260$ to pay in full
All listed prices are approximate or by deduction for future products.
Now is the 4460 really gonna boost my system compared to my i5 750?
I mean will I unleash an extra 10 to 50fps more in demanding games like Far Cry 4, ACU, Dying Light...?

Maybe less than 10 fps ..the 750 has a larger l3 cache
I would have added 4Gb more to my system but the pcandparts dude said the 2x2GB DDR3 1333 will not work with my mobo while I have already 2x2gb kingston 4GB 1333, weird.Stygmata wroteMaybe less than 10 fps ..the 750 has a larger l3 cache
The game where I have found that my CPU was bottle-necking was Dying light with huge drop of FPS from 70 to 15
switching to the 4460, will bring you 10-20% performance improvement, while consuming less power and outputting less heat, which is good if you want a cooler system.
you should notice a difference in CPU bound games.
As for skylake, Intel said H2 is when skylake should start hitting the market. They usually start with lower TDP parts such Y, U, then go to the S and T. unlocked K parts take longer as the yields mature.

Skylake K won't launch till Q2 2016 and Cannonlake till Q2 2017
Geez so no good skylake in 2015?
What is Y and U? laptop versions?
If so, Choice 2 is the best, I would have take the i5 4690k but I know myself, in a year when Skylake and DDR4 will be widely available I will feel I have paid too much for a 4th gen i5, at least with the 4460 it's about 100$ less and I guess the performance difference is not big between 4460 and 4690k, right?

It's not big at all, the only way you could max out that CPU would be playin Attila at Extreme settings.
There will be core M based Skylake, followed by the ultra low voltage SKUs Y and U (Laptop parts).
If you are looking for overclocking the i5-4690k can reach 4.7Ghz, and it is one of the most overclockable haswell part and offers performance that overtakes some other i7 based parts. however you will be paying 60$ premium for that extra performance over the i5-4460. The i5-4690K +MSI Gaming Z97 equals to around 400$ +VAT
but if you are looking for a budget system with no overclocking go with the 4460 and an H97

Yep for a 2 years period it would be better to take a ''budget'' i5 then when the Skylake is in its 2nd gen (and so corrected all the probable defects of the 1st gen) in 2017 I will take a damn good system with K version and Gaming mobo. The DDR4 price will be much lower too.
The Asus H97M-E is a good mobo?
The Asus H97M-E is a good mobo?
yes the Asus H97M-E is great motherboard with an excellent UEFI, M.2 pcie SSD (2X the speed of regular SATA SSD). Asus makes the best Motherboards IMO.
Thanks!
Now let's see if I take from pcandparts or microcity

Are you sure the K series of Skylake will take to 2016?
Many sources are saying the S line which will come out in August is including the K series, add 3 months to have it in Lebanon so it means end November- December period. Though I am afraid the DDR4 will still be expensive in December 2015.

well intel just showcased the yet to be released broadwell K couple of days ago. unless they are planning to release broadwell K and skylake K at the same which they have never done before releasing tick and tock at the same time. Officially intel only confirmed M, Y,U for skylake this year along with other broadwell parts.
If you are planning to get DDR4, you will have to pay a premium through this year over ddr3. It's expected that Q1 2016 is when DDR4 prices equalize with DDR3 prices.

If I understood, only the M version of Skylake was confirmed for 2nd half of 2015, not a single word about desktop version yet

Ok decided to update my system to 4460, now who's gonna buy my i5 750 system?
