He should get a 4690K, unless he's delidding which is something I would not recommendAvoK95 wroteI'd just get a 4670K and a midrange Z97 board and call it a day.
Broadwell (5th gen) will not support DDR4, but Skylake (6th gen) will.AvoK95 wroteUnless you want DDR4 and a 5th gen CPU for the sake of upgrading like I said above
Totally forgot about the 4690K, and I totally agree.Die_Kapitan wrote

I was being hypothetical in a way. I have no idea about Broadwell and Skylake.Die_Kapitan wrote Broadwell (5th gen) will not support DDR4, but Skylake (6th gen) will.
Well amazon sent the replacement gpu today, in transit right now.
Oh, why you ask?
Because the first 980 they sent me was DOA.
But at least I am being refunded for every penny I spent so far other than the gpu price.
Let's hope this one will be all good and received quickly by borderlinx.

I just figured out that my Samsung 40F6400 TV can be OC from 60hz to 75hz using Nvidia custom resolutions and EVEN with the DSR resolutions.
Using Vsync now cap Fps to 75 instead of 60 :)

- Did you pay CUS/VAT for the replacement ?
- How much did it cost you for the return and who is the carrier ?
I am using Easyshop/Borderlinx.
When I got the first one I paid about 170$ to get the item (shipping customs vat and everything).
So when I found out that the card is defective, I contacted amazon directly.
And asked them for a replacement.
Which they sent it to me no charge. (it's on the way from US currently).
Also, I asked them to refund me 170$ shipping /tax/customs fees that I paid to get the first item.
And after showing them the receipt, I got a refund immediately.
Another also, I contacted FedEx, and they are asking for approx 130-150$ to ship the defective one back to Amazon.
So I told them that the FedEx representative estimated me a price of 160$ to ship back the defective card.
So they refunded me another 160$, and asked me for the receipt after I ship it. (which I will do at the start of next week).
So technically I did not spend anything extra other than the fees of shipping vat and customs (170$) that I paid for the first time.
Note that I had put Liban post as a partner in my Borderlinx page at first by mistake.
So I had to go myself at Liban post headquarters at the airport to get it myself (otherwise they would have sent it 1 week later, and they had the card right there with them, she told me like that, so I told you I will come and take it today).
Yup.
So I hope I explained the operation well, from my phone xD
And I wish this one will be working!

@AVOlio: Thanks for the clarification bro.
I had a very bad experience returning a DOA G.Skill Ripjaws RAM, even thought it has a lifetime warranty Amazon told me to contact GSkill directly, which they gave me RMA number and an address for the return, they refused to refund or give anything before i ship the defected kit first which costs 55$ for shipping "Aramex" so i gave up and ended using one stick of RAM till my next upgrade which is definitely not GSkills.

G.Skill, like ASUS, are a great brand that suffers from bad customer service, but, unlike ASUS, they have a bad quality control.MohammedSF wrote@AVOlio: Thanks for the clarification bro.

Good thing that amazon refunded you.
The gtx 970 4G Gaming version has a custom PCB, military grade components, and a better cooler. Currently, it can handle the highest overclocks of any GTX 970 (take a look at the Gigabyte g1 as well )ch-b wroteGood thing that amazon refunded you.

Have you calculated customs cost on the BorderLinx website before shipping? Shipping rates, tax & duties calculator,AVOlio wroteMy purchased card was a Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 980.
and did it differ from what you paid when you wanted to receive your package?
Isn't anyone excited about the new GTX 960 that is supposed to be priced at 200$ ?!
the only benefit of the GTX 960 in comparison of the similarily priced AMD cards (R9 280 and the R9 285 ) the GTX offers lower power consumption , lower noise and larger compatability with other systems though it can run games on par with the AMDsNAM wroteIsn't anyone excited about the new GTX 960 that is supposed to be priced at 200$ ?!
200$ in the US, in Lebanon GTX 660 and 760 were priced 250$ + VAT ;)
