andrew55 wroteinterestingly the reply was from support not CCU even though i do get emails from CCU.
Very odd. As long as you are happy ?
Yea. It's good. They called me to see if my line can handle 8 Mbps. They asked me to replace the modem i have with the modem from IDM because "other modems don't give them the actual attainable rate". My maximum attainable rate on the thompson is a little over 5 Mbps while that number goes up to more than 16 Mbps on my new modem. I don't get it.

I do, the guy who came yesterday told me the IDM modems have a custom Firmware built exclusively to accommodate "Lebanese" crappy Internet config. Giving them actual values. Without them they don't get speeds according to their config but a general assumption.

Hope that was clear enough.
makes sense. on adsl1 with the thompson, the attainable rate doubles to 10 Mbps and the upload speed doubles to 1 Mbps. On adsl2+ those values are half. On a side note, when my connection was 1 Mbps more than 2 years ago, the maximum attainable rate was 1 Mbps. So I don't know how they were able to give 4096 K...

I have no idea. But their servers are outdated for damn sure. Running 2003 not 2012 R2.
I don't know what magical world you guys live in where speeds got better but I left the house for a few days (including the end of last month/beginning of this month) and being the top internet user at home I figured I won't get FUP'd but nope I'm down to 80 KBps (out of 256 in theory, out of maybe 200 in practice).

And if you're wondering why I'm still "unlimited" that's because I was outside of the house when I thought I should submit my change plan request. I told my father to call them in my absence. Bastards told him to do it with their form online.

He then thought I should do it since "I'm better with the form stuff".

Now I can't change my plan for this month online, so I have to wait for September (this is why I told my father to call in the first place).

Well that spiraled out of control... I just wanted to tell you guys that my speeds got worse than they were before instead of magically becoming stable.

EDIT: 70 KB/s now

We live in a magical world where limited plan speeds got more stable. And yikes! If you domiciliated then you screwed. Prepaid cards rule!

Yeah. The sweet spot where 1gb is cheapest is the 40gb package. So even if it's not enough for me, I don't mind refilling twice or even 3 times a month.

2x$18=$36 for total of 80gb instead of $27.5 for 50gb. And 3x$18=$54 for 120gb etc...

Best solution
Are you sure you can use 40GB or whatever package monthly refills more than once per month? I don't think it's possible, that's why there are seperate extra GB's refills.

Yes. As long as you use up all the quota. Limited plans are quota based while Unlimited are time based. I used up 45gb in 15 days so in less than a month, and I refilled with another.

Well that's good news then!

Yep. But please head this warning, do NOT put all cards in at once. There is a weird issue where if you have say 3 cards in basket, when one card is over it will count what you used last from new one etc. I recommend you wait until a card is dry to the last byte before putting in next one.

Every time you refill you get a new cycle or you just continue the previous one?

New Cycle of course. Beginning at the time of card activation. No such thing as previous one continuing.
wollyka wroteYep Today I got a call they the feasibility results are not in yet and so my account will not be upgraded. Even though my line is already on 8M. So no speed update this month too
Today i called idm they said feasibility not done yet, when i talked to manager 1 week ago he confirm that i will grt the 4mb next month and i couldnt get it this month coz of feasibility.
I got the 2M today, but it's not really 2M I'm downloading at max 190Kb/sec and it's varying a lot.

Depends if you using browser or download manager. Single threaded downloads always slower than multi. Been said hundreds of times.

That said, it has been fluctuating as of late. During early night 7pm onwards it becomes more stable.

No I'm downloading torrents so I think that counts for multi threaded downloads.
use internet download manager. If your modem says 2048 K then your maximum download speed shouldn't exceed 2048/8 * 0.875 = 224 KB/s. My average download speed doesn't exceed 448 KB/s (except for bursts). Torrent speeds fluctuate.

which central are you taking from? i am still on 1 mbps in antelias

I'll give that a try, thanks :)
